    Rally demands crackdown on illegals

They're mad at the federal government for not taking action and supportive of a state Legislature that they believe will.

About 75 people stood in a noonday chill outside the Georgia Capitol on Saturday to denounce federal inaction on illegal immigration and to support state Senate Bill 529, a far-reaching proposal that has passed the Senate and could be debated in the Georgia House as early as this week. The measure would prohibit adult illegal immigrants from getting many public benefits, financially penalize private employers who hire illegals and set stiff penalties for human trafficking.

"It doesn't go far enough, but at least it's a start," said George Latherow, 80, a World War II airman who drove to Atlanta from Taylor County to attend the rally. "Our federal government seems useless on this issue."

Polls show that about 80 percent of Georgians want the Legislature to address illegal immigration, and it has become a major issue in this election year, when all 236 state lawmakers' jobs are on the line.

Saturday's low-key rally was organized by the Dustin Inman Society, which lobbies for a crackdown on illegal immigrants. Those attending held U.S. flags and carried signs that read, "No Amnesty For Illegal Aliens. No Amnesty for Criminal Employers." One read, "Illegal Aliens Are Criminals."

Rally organizer D.A. King assailed the "guest worker" program being proposed at the federal level, calling it little more than a disguised amnesty for the estimated 11 million to 20 million illegal immigrants in the country. There are an estimated 250,000 to 800,000 illegal immigrants in Georgia, which is believed to have the seventh-largest population of illegal residents in the nation.

King told the rally that people who broke the law to enter the country now cost taxpayer-supported programs — schools, hospitals and prisons — vast amounts of money. He called illegal immigration in Georgia "a billion-dollar act of organized crime."

"This is not about immigration," King said. "Immigrants came here legally. Illegal aliens are not immigrants."

Latherow said he worries that wealthy employers are using illegal immigrants to lower the wages of blue-collar workers, a theme echoed repeatedly at the rally.

"Our federal politicians only look out for the wealthy," Latherow said before the rally. "Pretty soon, you won't have a middle class."

Kenny Shackleford, 53, of Woodstock had a more personal reason for attending. His son, Christopher, was killed six years ago by an illegal immigrant driving under the influence near Marietta. That man was convicted and sentenced to prison.

"If they don't enforce the law, people will eventually take the law into their own hands," Shackleford said.

There's going to be rioting in the streets in Ga., and probably all over the country.

You know our wonderful politicians know this, they have to know Americans' are fed up and frustrated with them to the point of ...well who knows?

Question is, why do they want that to happen, or do they think American's are too lazy to do anything about their policies? I just don't understand them!
Do not vote for Party this year, vote for America and American workers!

My personal feeling is that this is exactly what they want us to do. Then they will have the excuse they beed to destroy our 2nd amendment rights. Once they take our weapons, we will see a dictatorship and will be helpless to do anything about it. Haw many times have we seen this happen in other countries? Our 2nd amendment rights is what has KEPT this from happening!

Just my personal view considering they are destroying our constitutional rights left and right. Bush has been reported saying the constitution is a GD piece of paper.
Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God
