GOP candidates say more must be done to combat illegal immigration

By Associated Press, Updated: Wednesday, February 22, 9:47 PM

MESA, Ariz. — The Republican candidates say more must be done to combat illegal immigration.
The topic was a natural for Wednesday night’s debate in Mesa, Ariz.

Newt Gingrich says he would devote as many resources as necessary to securing the U.S.’s southern border and that he would build two separate fences at the border to make it more difficult to cross illegally. He also says he’d send thousands more employees of the Homeland Security Department to border areas.

Mitt Romney says he would put more resources into securing the border and support programs that make it more difficult for illegal immigrants to work in the U.S. He says Arizona’s approach to illegal immigration is a “model” for the country.
Rick Santorum says he would also beef up efforts to combat illegal immigration.

Interesting how they did not mention that Newt Gingrich advocates for a form of Amnesty for illegal aliens that have been in the states for a few years.

How much border security does anyone believe their will ever be once millions of illegals become voters?

Assuming both the congress and senate don't ratify it along the way.

Newt's dual fence would be worth it, but would congress give him the money?

Mitt's 'more resources' could be anything from adding a few dozen remote controlled drones to several divisions of soldiers.

Rick's 'beefing up' could be anything from taking away food stamps from illegal aliens to a rolling thunder bomber campaign.

We've really got a lot to work with here ..
