GOP Rep Calls for Total Pause of ‘Trojan Horse’ Refugee Program: Americans ‘Getting Killed’ for Political Correctness

Congressman Brian Babin (R-TX) is calling for a total suspension of the controversial refugee resettlement program following the attack of young Americans at Ohio State University carried out by a Somali refugee.

“Our refugee program has basically become a Trojan Horse,” Babin said in a Thursday radio interview with nationally-syndicated host Laura Ingraham.

“We have to take a step back and reevaluate our asylum policies that are absolutely getting Americans killed for politically correct reasons,” Babin explained, adding that the Ohio State University refugee attack “comes on the heels of another Somali refugee stabbing in Minnesota” that took place in September.

“The threat is growing. It’s time for us to wake up,” Babin added. “We’ve got to look no further than Western Europe to see the results of what happens when you have… unchecked and completely overwhelming refugee numbers.”

Babin explained that in July of 2015, he introduced a bill (H.R. 3314) which would enact a “common sense pause and suspension of the refugee program to make sure we’re not carelessly letting folks in who intend to do us harm.”

“We just want to suspend the program [and] stop the refugees. We know the dangers of it,” Babin said.

Indeed, in late 2015, instead of bringing Babin’s bill up for a vote, Speaker Ryan decided to take up Michael McCaul’s legislation, which conservatives decried as a “show vote” because even if it had passed, it would still allow President Obama to import an unlimited number of refugees from an unlimited number of countries into the United States.

Moreover, as Breitbart News’ Alex Swoyer reported at the time, Ryan’s “first major action” as Speaker of the House was to block amendments which would have strengthened McCaul’s toothless bill–including an amendment offered by Babin, which would have placed a six-month moratorium on allowing refugees into the United States.

In the past, Ryan has articulated his opposition to the concept of Babin’s refugee pause.

Following the 2015 Paris terror attack carried out by foreign migrants, Sean Hannity asked Ryan about Babin’s proposals and whether Ryan thought the U.S. should pause the refugee program. Ryan, who has a long history of supporting open borders immigration policies, said that he did not want to cancel the controversial refugee resettlement operation, declaring that we shouldn’t allow the threat of terrorism to “dictate” our refugee policy.

“We’re a compassionate country. The refugees laws are important laws,” Ryan told Hannity after the deadliest day of attacks on French soil since World War II. “We don’t want terrorists to dictate how we run—whether we have a law or not,” Ryan said.

Interestingly, following the Ohio refugee attack, the Republican Speaker has been relatively quiet about the incident.

When Ingraham asked Babin specifically about whether Ryan has addressed the attack, Babin said that he did not believe Ryan had.

“Has Paul Ryan spoke out on this issue?” Ingraham asked. “I’m doing a cursory search–I don’t see that he has spoken out on the Somali refugee issue in light of this Ohio State attack.”

“I haven’t heard him say anything about that,” Babin said.

Babin said that he personally had mentioned his concerns about the refugee program to Ryan in a private conversation with the Speaker several weeks ago– informing Ryan that pausing the resettlement operation was a “high priority” for the Trump administration as well as for Babin’s constituents. Yet apparently, Ryan did not get into specifics at that moment about how he intended to reform the program, Babin indicated.

“Our whole refugee program was sponsored by Ted Kennedy… and signed into law by President Carter in 1980,” Babin told Ingraham and her listeners. “Since then, we have absolutely in Congress relinquished our control of this program to the President, and the U.N…. and a handful of private contractors…that get paid millions of dollars.”

“It’s a joke,” Ingraham said, agreeing.

“They’ve got to cut off the money to this Catholic Charities refugee resettlement program,” Ingraham added, referring to the program that was responsible for resettling, at taxpayer’s expense, the Somali refugee who carried out Monday’s attack along with his seven family members. She went on to say:

This is just a big cash cow for them. That’s why all these Bishops are happy to take the refugees in because they make a huge amount of money off this. And it’s just absurd. It gives them power, it gives them government grants. And meanwhile we’re left to pick up the pieces. And local communities are left to assimilate people. And oftentimes they never learn English (as we’ve seen in the Somali population in Minnesota), [and] most of them live at or below the poverty line at a time when we don’t have enough jobs for native-born Americans.

Ingraham explained that Monday’s attack did not take place in isolation. “We had the refugee/asylee abuse with the Boston Marathon bomber [in 2013], we saw what happened in San Bernardino [with] bringing in the spouse with the faulty paperwork, and we saw what happened with the radicalization of the Florida nightclub attack… and all of these other attacks… the Minnesota slashing [at the St. Cloud mall in September]… It’s craziness,” Ingraham said.

“It’s incredible how we can be so willfully blind,” Babin added. “We have absolutely got to stop this program. And my bill is really the one that will put Congress back in the driver’s seat and re-establish our responsibility and control over the refugee program.”

Breitbart News reached out to Speaker Ryan’s office to ask if he now intends to champion Babin’s legislation to suspend the refugee program. Ryan’s office did not respond to Breitbart News.

A year prior to Monday’s attack at Ohio State, Breitbart sat down with Ohio Congressman and House Freedom Caucus Chairman Jim Jordan and asked him specifically about Babin’s bill. Breitbart asked Jordan whether the House Freedom Caucus had received any guarantees from Congressman Ryan that he would advance Babin’s bill in exchange for their support for him as House Speaker.

At the time, Jordan told Breitbart that they had not received any such guarantees from Ryan.

Jordan and other members of the House Freedom Caucus went on to support Ryan for House Speaker anyway.

After Monday’s attack, Breitbart reached out to Jordan again to ask if he now plans to call on Speaker Ryan to champion Babin’s bill to pause the refugee program responsible for the attack carried out against Jordan’s Ohio constituents.

Jordan’s office did not respond to Breitbart News’s inquiry.

We need a 10 to 20 Year Moratorium on All Immigration and we need it ... NOW.

Speaker Ryan wants to cut our "entitlement programs". He want to cut our Social Security and Medicare...which are not entitlements but money we paid into the system. On top of that, our Health Care costs are through the roof. We are 20 trillion in debt.

Now they are dipping into HHS and taking that money to pay for these illegal aliens. Enough is enough. Turn them right back around at the border. Throwing money at this problem solves nothing...but encourages hundreds of thousands more to come. It is time to give these countries a "Comprehensive Plan for Reform", including promoting an agenda of population control. No more aid, no more money, no more oatmeal.

How dare he cut benefits to American citizens...but manage to find billions and billions of dollars for refugees, asylum and illegal aliens. Giving One Billion a year to Churches...another Human Trafficking and money making scheme paid for by US taxpayers.

Our government is bringing in several cultures of people who are uneducated, do not speak our language, are bringing many diseases we have to pay to treat, and have 7-8 children who will be on welfare and food stamps for generations over and over again. These people are not showing up to work Monday morning paying for themselves. Many Muslim men coming here do not work.

We already have our own problems with this in our communities...we do not need to import and pay for more of it out of our pockets. This is the beginning of the point of no return, we will be overrun by costs and poverty.

End the FAILED refugee, asylum and illegal invasion of our country. Put a hold on all Student Visa's who are overcrowding our schools and then getting preference for jobs.

Paul Ryan is actually an evil egg-head. He's not that bright, he's never accomplished anything outside of a political election, he's wrong on immigration, he's wrong on trade, he's wrong on Social Security and Medicare, he's a baby, he speaks like a Sunday School teacher, he's not informed, and he's a Con Man, claiming Medicare is going broke in 2028 when if it is it's simply because he and Congress have failed to pass a payroll tax rate increase as they are obligated under the Social Security Act to do to ensure it's solvency.

The US Congress hasn't increased the payroll tax rate for Social Security in 26 years (since 1990) and hasn't increased the payroll tax rate for Medicare in 30 years (since 1986). This needs to be HEADLINE NEWS in every newspaper, on every radio station, and every news station in the United States. SS and Medicare are not going broke, it's a miracle they've functioned this long without a payroll tax rate increase for 3 decades. Under the Social Security Act, Congress is obligated and required to pass rate increases to ensure solvency of the programs funded by the Social Security Administration. That is the law. There is no practical acceptable legal option to that.

They have made Social Security a slush fund to pay for their other scams.

Cut foreign aid by 50% the first year, cut foreign aid by another 25% the second year in office and stop giving other countries our money. They need to effect change in their own countries, solve their problems and stand on their own two feet which includes population control, education and job skills training.

Pay back our Social Security and Medicare.

YES!! And we need to stop the illegal outflow of our money supply to Mexico.

The Donald is going to stop this as we have no way of vetting them. He should locate all of them that are here now and check them out as I am sure he will find terrorist ties on a great number of them. These people were not even checked at all. Obama just brought them in and put them on welfare. It is ridiculous that we are paying for our very own terrorists that kill our own citizens.
