More than 100 US military veterans now trained as ICE 'HEROs' in fight against child predators
Initially begun as a pilot initiative in 2013, the Human Exploitation Rescue Operative, or HERO Corps, program has now trained more than 100 former U.S. military members in computer forensics and law enforcement support of online child sexual exploitation cases. In May 2015, the President signed the HERO Act into law, which formalized the program within ICE’s Cyber Crimes Center.

ICE HSI Special Agents recognized by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
NCMEC honored HSI Special Agents Christopher Neville, Henry Cook and Eli Bupp for their race against the clock to stop the sexual abuse of five young girls who were being photographed and had their images posted online. The agents used advanced technology, extensive man hours, and clues found in the images of abuse to identify and locate the children hundreds of miles away. The children were rescued and the abuser arrested.

Operation Blood Klot, a joint investigation that began in April 2015, focused on the trafficking of drug and firearms in Kingston and Poughkeepsie, a scheme led by alleged Bloods gang street boss, Recardo Langston, 31, Romell Hearn, 37 and Marcus Fisher, 39. The individuals listed in the indictment are alleged gang members who have pledged allegiance to violent street gangs like the G-Shine and Sex, Money, Murder, cliques of the Bloods gang.

Agustin Espinoza-Betancourt, 34, is the subject of an Interpol Red Notice for allegedly committing murder in 1999 in Morelos, Mexico. According to the Red Notice, on Feb 6, 1999, Espinoza-Betancourt got into an altercation with his neighbors — a mother and son — and shot the son four times, killing him. The mother attempted to shield her son and was shot twice, but survived.

Jason Michael Ludke, 35, of Milwaukee, was charged in a criminal complaint with attempting to provide material support or resources to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, a designated foreign terrorist organization commonly referred to as ISIL, ISIS or the Islamic State. Yosvany Padilla-Conde, 30, also of Milwaukee, was charged in the same complaint with aiding and abetting Ludke’s attempt to provide material support or resources to a foreign terrorist organization, ISIL.

Fake tribal chief sentenced to nearly 3 years in federal prison for selling membership to non-recognized Native American tribe
Humberto Reveles, 61, was sentenced to 33 months imprisonment by U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen. Judge Hanen also ordered Reveles to serve three years of supervised release. He was further ordered to pay restitution of $198,795 to 144 victims of the scheme. In handing down the sentence, Judge Hanen noted this scheme was just as bad as coyotes smuggling people into the United States.

Mexican woman pleads guilty in Kansas to possessing weapon used in homicide
Azucena Garcia-Ferniza, 22, a citizen of Mexico, pleaded guilty to one count of possessing a firearm while unlawfully in the United States. In her plea, she admitted that on May 7, 2015, she unlawfully possessed a Glock model 30 .45-caliber pistol. Her visitor’s visa had expired in February 1998.

Mexican man pleads to methamphetamine trafficking, money laundering while serving a sentence in an Oklahoma state prison
Oscar Garcia, 46, was in Oklahoma state custody serving a prison sentence on an unrelated drug-trafficking conviction at the time he committed the crimes to which he pleaded guilty Oct. 7. Under the terms of his plea agreement, Garcia will be sentenced to 15 years in prison; after he completes his sentence, he will be turned over to ICE custody and placed in removal proceedings.

Syracuse Drug Trafficker Sentenced to 28 Years
OCT 12 (SYRACUSE)
Derrick Wilson, 36, of Syracuse, New York, was sentenced today to serve a 336 month (28 years) term of imprisonment, followed by 10 years of supervised release. The sentence was announced jointly by Special Agent in Charge James J. Hunt, New York Division, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian, and Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler.
