SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers deported a Mexican fugitive Thursday for the fourth time.

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officers worked with Mexican law enforcement to transfer Jose Miguel Rangel-Exiga, 40, in Brownsville.

Rangel-Exiga is wanted for homicide in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico, according to Mexican authorities.

Thursday's transfer marked the fourth time Rangel-Exiga has been removed from the United States. He was previously deported in 2001, 2012 and in April 2014.

Each time Rangel-Exiga served prison time for his convictions of re-entry after deportation. He most recently served time at the Willacy County Correctional Center in Raymondville, Texas, where he remained until his latest deportation.

"This particularly egregious case shows how our ERO officers help protect public safety on a daily basis," said Field Office Director for ERO San Antonio Enrique M. Lucero in a statement. "We work closely with our international law enforcement partners to remove dangerous criminal aliens from our local communities to face justice in their home countries."
