PHOENIX – A Douglas woman who works for a federal immigration agency has been accused of using her home to stash illegal immigrants being smuggled into the U.S.

A federal criminal complaint obtained by The Arizona Republic shows Stella Peterson was arrested Aug. 31 after three illegal immigrants were found in her Douglas home. She is charged with harboring illegal aliens for profit. Her son was also arrested.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Amber Cargile says Peterson works as an assistant to investigators for Homeland Security Investigations in Douglas. She is on paid administrative leave.

The complaint says Peterson admitted she knew that her son had been using the house to harbor and smuggle illegal immigrants.

What happens when you have a giant federal law enforcement agency–Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)–not allowed to enforce immigration law and deport illegal aliens? You have employees of that agency, who take that to mean that they can harbor illegal aliens. Hey, didn’t Obama tell this woman and the rest of us that they are just as American as us, “except on paper”? Sadly, yes.

A federal immigration-enforcement employee has been arrested and accused of using her home in Douglas to stash illegal immigrants smuggled across the border into the U.S.

Stella Peterson was arrested Aug. 31 after three illegal immigrants were found in her home on Eighth Street, according to a complaint filed in U.S. District Court.

She is charged with harboring illegal aliens for profit, according to court records .

Her son, Anthony Peterson, was also arrested.

Stella Peterson, born in 1961, is an investigative assistant assigned to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations in Douglas, said Amber Cargile, a spokeswoman for the agency.

Her primary duties are providing clerical and administrative support to investigators, Cargile said. . . .

Peterson was placed on paid administrative leave after her arrest. She will remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation and criminal charges, Cargile said.

Ya think you’d continue to be paid while on vacation, after you were arrested for defrauding your employer and helping the enemy? This woman is a traitor to her country. Unfortunately, her President and the officials atop her aimless agency have set the tone.

According to the complaint, Peterson said she knew that her son had been using the house to harbor and smuggle illegal immigrants. She admitted that illegal immigrants had been smuggled out of her home at least four times. She also admitted that she had provided material assistance to the illegal immigrants and on several occasions had received financial assistance from her son, the complaint says.

The three illegal immigrants told investigators that they paid a smuggler $2,000 to $3,000 to be smuggled into the United States and that Anthony Peterson charged them an additional $100 each to be driven from an alleyway to the stash house, the complaint said.

All three have agreed to serve as material witnesses, according to court documents.

You know what that means, don’t you? The three illegal aliens will probably be given green cards in exchange for testifying against the Petersons. That’s the standard M.O. So, not only do we have a corrupt ICE employee harboring illegal aliens in our midst, we now have three new soon-to-be citizens who are being rewarded for breaking the law.

Douglas resident Stella Peterson, 51, and her son Anthony Peterson, 30, were arrested and charged with harboring illegal aliens for profit on Aug. 31.

“Stella Peterson, an investigative assistant assigned to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Douglas, was arrested Aug. 31 on allegations that she harbored illegal aliens,” Spokesperson for ICE, Amber Cargile said. “HSI takes all allegations of employee misconduct seriously and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation by the Southern Arizona Corruption Task Force (SACTF). Ms. Peterson was placed on paid administrative leave following her arrest and will remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation and criminal charges.”

According to court documents, on Aug. 28 three illegal aliens and material witnesses, Juan Ortiz-Garcia, Juan Jose Perez-Cruz and Juan Carlos Garduno-Ordonez told Federal Bureau Investigation (FBI) agents, they had been smuggled into a residence located at 902 8th Street; the home of Stella Peterson.

Anthony Peterson was identified by two of the material witnesses as the person who harbored them.

The witnesses stated they had paid an unknown subject in Mexico approximately $2,000-$3,000 each to be smuggled by Anthony Peterson. Peterson charged them an additional $100 to be taken from an alleyway to his mother Stella Peterson’s house.

He was arrested and held at Cochise County jail and released to the SACTF on Aug. 31.

Stella Peterson provided the FBI with a voluntary statement stating she knew her son Anthony, had been harboring and smuggling illegal aliens in her home.

She admitted to having illegal aliens smuggled in and out of her residence on at least four other occasions. She also admitted to providing material assistance to the illegals and to receiving financial assistance for harboring them from her son.

No further information was provided at the time, the FBI’s Southern Arizona Corruption Task Force is conducting the ongoing investigation in this matter.
