ICE Freed Illegal Alien In Mass. Double Murder

ICE Freed Illegal Alien In Mass. Double Murder

    Last Updated: Fri, 09/10/2010 - 3:47pm

Suffering the consequences of protecting outlaws, a renowned sanctuary state is considering enacting measures to combat illegal immigration after an undocumented alien awaiting deportation murdered two people this week.

The killings in a small, working class Massachusetts city have shaken legislators in a state that has long protected illegal immigrants. The triggerman (Fernando Guerrero-Lara) had been freed by federal authorities while he waited for a March 2011 deportation hearing in Texas, according to a news report that referred to his crimes as a bullet bloodbath.

Guerrero-Lara and a second triggerman crashed a packed birthday party at a restaurant in Lawrence, located about 25 miles north of Boston, and killed a pair of 24-year-olds, one of them a mother of two young children. Local authorities were indignant when they learned that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had allowed Guerrero-Lara to roam the country while awaiting removal. Not surprisingly, ICE has refused to explain why the illegal immigrant was not in custody.

This miserable failure to enforce immigration laws is nothing new for the feds, which is why local governments—such as Arizona and Hazleton Pennsylvania—across the nation are taking matters into their own hands. Cities, counties and states—like Massachusetts—that offer illegal immigrants sanctuary only add to the growing crisis, which includes shielding terrorists.

For instance, the Pakistani man (So Pir Khan) arrested earlier this year for Time Square bombing was an illegal immigrant with deep roots in Massachusetts. He even admitted on a city cabbie license application that he entered the U.S. illegally. The Boston cab driver is one of three men who funneled money to the fellow Pakistani terrorist (Faisal Shahzad) who tried to blow up New York’s Time Square with a series of bombs hidden in a sports utility vehicle.

While surfing the web yesterday I came upon some articles about the car crash Tom Brady was involved in. Reading the comments many, many posters believed the guy who ran the red light was an IA and accused the media outlets of covering up the fact. As there weren't any real confirmations I chose not to post said articles here. BUT...

    Victims’ kin demand club regulations

Family members and friends of a 24-year-old Dorchester woman, who was one of two people shot dead at a Lawrence nightclub, gathered outside last night demanding more security at clubs.

La Guira Restaurant remained closed as Amarilis Roldan’s loved ones huddled outside the place where the mother of two was murdered in a bloodbath that also left Juan Suazo of Hyde Park dead and two others wounded.

Roldan’s family called on Lawrence officials to require tighter security at such establishments, such as metal detectors and security guards. The club’s owner could not be reached for comment.

Illegal Immigration Violence Prompts Vow for Crackdown in Massachusetts

By Elise Foley 9/10/10 10:55 AM

Massachusetts state representatives are vowing to push for tough immigration laws after an illegal immigrant suspected of killing two people was discovered to be in deportation proceedings. Fernando Guerrero-Lara, an immigrant from the the Dominican Republic, was awaiting a March 2011 preliminary removal hearing in U.S. Immigration Court in Texas, when he and a second man allegedly killed two people.

State politicians argue they need to do something to keep illegal immigrants out of the state, the Boston Herald reported today:

Man hurt in crash forgotten, sister says
    Criticizes coverage focusing on Brady
    By Milton J. Valencia
    Globe Staff / September 11, 2010

The passenger in the minivan that was involved in the accident with Tom Brady on Thursday morning suffered a broken back and other ailments, and underwent a series of surgeries yesterday, his sister said, calling him a victim who was forgotten during the media frenzy over the star football player.

“Why? Because we’re poor, we don’t have money, because Tom Brady is famous,’’ said the sister of Rogerio Rodrigues, the 49-year-old Fall River man who was injured in the accident in the Back Bay. The sister, who was contacted by the Globe, asked that she not be identified to avoid further involvement with publicizing the case.

Rodrigues, a father of five, suffered critical injuries, including a broken nose as well as the broken back, she said, and underwent several surgeries over the past two days. He remained hospitalized yesterday at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

His 21-year-old son, Ludgero, was cited in the accident with running a red light and causing the crash, and issued a $150 fine. He has a lengthy driving record for violations such as speeding and driving with improper equipment, though the Globe learned yesterday that a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol that is listed on his record was dismissed because it was another man who was arrested and used his identity. He is seeking to have it expunged.

Police said that Ludgero Rodrigues was driving the family’s 1997 Mercury Villager minivan on Commonwealth Avenue at around 6:30 a.m. when he ran the red light and smashed into Brady’s 2009 Audi S8, which was crossing Commonwealth Avenue where it intersects Gloucester Street. Brady’s $97,000 car was a loaner from Audi through his partnership with the charity Best Buddies.

Brady, though shaken up, was not injured and practiced at Gillette Stadium hours after the accident. Later Thursday he signed a contract for $72 million over four years.

Brady did not comment yesterday, and his agent and personal assistant did not return calls. His father, Tom Brady Sr., said in a brief phone interview that his son was well and “looking forward to Sunday,’’ the Patriots’ season opener. His father said his son has a new car, but could not say what kind and it was not clear if it was through Best Buddies.

Asked whether Brady plans to reach out to the Rodrigues family, his father said he did not know but “he’s got a very full agenda.’’

“He hopes the passenger of the car is healthy, and we’re keeping him in the family prayers,’’ the elder Brady said.

Rogerio Rodrigues’s sister said her brother was heading to St. Elizabeth Medical Center Thursday morning for treatment of a back injury. He was lying in the back of the van when the accident occurred, which worsened his injuries.

“His son was driving because he had a very bad back problem,’’ the sister said.

She said Ludgero Rodrigues swears he did not run the red light. He told police he had a green light, according to a police report of the accident. The sister said that the media and authorities automatically sympathized with Brady.

“Nobody talks about Tom Brady because he’s a rich guy, and we’re poor,’’ she said. “My brother is in very bad condition. We are upset. Leave the family alone because we are in pain.’’

According to the police report, Brady tried to swerve once he noticed the minivan entering the intersection, but could not react quickly enough. His car struck the minivan’s side, sending it into the air.

With both men claiming they had the green light, police cited Rodrigues based on the account of 74-year-old Ann Geupel, who lives nearby and was walking her two dogs when the accident occurred.

Geupel said she was crossing Commonwealth Avenue when she saw the minivan plowing down the road with no indication it would stop. She said she knew the car had a red light because the pedestrian light was flashing allowing her to cross.

Geupel narrowly missed injury. “Her dogs pulled back on their leashes in hesitation and at that moment the vehicles collided in the intersection,’’ according to the police report.

Geupel fell back onto the ground, and the Audi was close to hitting her. She was tended to by emergency medical technicians at the scene, and later saw a doctor as a precaution, but she was not injured.

After being besieged by media Thursday, Geupel was out of town yesterday. She said in a phone interview that she was doing OK. “A little sore, but they said that was going to happen,’’ she said.

Crash victim at hospital; driver has lengthy record
    Sep 9, 2010 10:15pm

(NECN: Josh Brogadir) - Rogerio Rodrigues will be spending the night at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, according to his neighbors.

The hospital confirms he's here, but will not give out any information by request of the family.

His son, Ludgero, was not hurt, but has had several problems on the road before.

Tom Brady is known for breaking records while driving his team down the football field, but has a clean driving record when it comes to the roads.

The man driving the other vehicle in the morning crash in Boston's Back Bay, 21 year old Ludgero Rodrigues, of Brockton, can't make the same claim about his own driving record.

    He has broken several laws.

In fact, according to the Registry of Motor Vehicles, Rodrigues has had his license suspended five times since 2008.

He was arrested for operating under the influence in New Bedford last November.

And he's been in at least one other accident before the crash with Brady and ticketed for several moving and safety violations.

Thursday, Ludgero Rodrigues was cited by Boston police for running a red light, his 16 year old younger brother Roger was not hurt, his 49 year old father, Rogerio was injured in the crash - coincidentally, on his way to a doctor's appointment.

"They said he's in the hospital and he needs some surgery, and I guess some facial surgery, or something but he's ok for now," said family friend David Nunes.

Landlord Lucy Furtado says, according to the family, Rogerio, broke some teeth in the crash.

"He's a good tenant, they're good people, they don't bother us, keep the property neat, that's all I can say, they're good people, they pay the rent on time," Lucy Furtado said.

The Rodrigues family - father, mother, and some of the kids -live here in a basement apartment in Fall River, since moving to the U.S. about a year ago from Cape Verde.

His daughters told NECN their dad works at an AJ Wright store.

    Alex Furtado lives next door.

"I kind of feel bad for the man, he's actually a great guy. I was helping them with their computer a while back. And you know really really great family, smart, intelligent people, down to earth, and it's really a shame," he said.

And now, connected through all this to Tom Brady.
