Criminal aliens who were ordered removed from the United States by a judge for being here illegally and who pose threats to communities were targeted for removal during a five-day U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Full Story

SEVP deploys final class of field representatives to work with US schools
With the new class, SEVP now has 58 field representatives. Field representatives manage territories in one of three U.S. regions – eastern, central and western. Once fully staffed, each region will have 20 field representatives, for a nationwide total of 60.

Massachusetts man pleads guilty to immigration, social security fraud
Princehakeem Awolesi, 48, of Lynn, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty to illegally obtaining U.S. citizenship, a U.S. passport and using a false Social Security number.
Awolesi was arrested in August 2015 and charged with violating various federal immigration and social security laws. His sentencing is scheduled for March 17, 2016.

Final defendant admits he conspired to provide material support to ISIL
Nader Saadeh, 20, of Rutherford, New Jersey, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton in Newark federal court to information charging him with one count of conspiring with others to provide material support to ISIL. He is being held without bail.

ICE returns ancient dinosaur fossil, ancient cultural artifacts to China
HSI Cleveland and HSI New York worked jointly to investigate Eric Prokopi, of Florida, who later pleaded guilty to engaging in a scheme to illegally import dinosaur fossils. According to court documents and statements made in Manhattan federal court, Prokopi owned and ran a business out of his Florida home and is a self-described commercial paleontologist.

Paul Joseph Koestle, 33, of Abilene, Texas, pleaded guilty to one count of producing child pornography and one count of receiving child pornography.

Florida man sentenced to 60 years for producing child pornography
Charles Heath Stewart, 43, of Grand Ridge, was convicted Aug. 21, 2015, after the government presented evidence that, on three occasions, in September, October and November 2013, Stewart knowingly produced child pornography when he coerced a child to engage in sexually explicit conduct with Stewart for the purpose of creating a visual depiction.

Chicago-area man pleads guilty to conspiring to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization — ISIL
Jonas M. Edmonds, 30, of Aurora, Illinois, pleaded guilty to two charges: one count of conspiring to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a designated foreign terrorist organization, and one count of making a materially false statement to a law enforcement officer regarding an offense involving international terrorism.

Samantha Elmer, 33, of Lawrence, Kansas, was charged with one count of obstructing the lawful exercise of parental rights by fleeing the United States with her two children.

12 charged in elaborate NJ-based credit card fraud scheme
The defendants, many of whom live in Secaucus and Jersey City, allegedly created “synthetic” identities by pairing real Social Security numbers with fictitious names and birth dates, and then using them to open numerous checking and credit card accounts.

The indictment was returned under seal Nov. 18 and unsealed Dec. 9. Folarin H. Alabi, 33, Justice Daniel, 40, and Ifeoma Adamolekun, 39, all of Houston, were taken into custody Dec. 9.

Rogelio Jesus Martinez, 22, was sentenced to 188 months in prison by Senior U.S. District Judge Janis Graham Jack. Martinez will also spend the rest of his life on supervised release and must register as a sex offender.

David Scott Fikani, 62, from Abilene, has been in federal custody since September 2015 when U.S. Magistrate Judge E. Scott Frost determined Fikani violated certain terms of his pretrial release and ordered him detained.

Prominent member of cybercrime ring sentenced to 9 years in prison
Alexander Kostyukov, aka “Temp”, aka “KLBS,” 30, who resided in Miami at the time of arrest, was sentenced on Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Andrew P. Gordon. The Russia-born defendant pleaded guilty to participation in a racketeer influenced corrupt organization (RICO), conspiracy to engage in a RICO, and three counts of unlawfully trafficking in and production of counterfeit identification documents.

State employee sentenced in Massachusetts for fraudulent document scheme
Rommer Valdez, 39, of Boston, was sentenced to five months in prison and three years of supervised release, the first five months of which is to be served in home confinement. He must also forfeit $26,200 and pay a fine of $3,000. Valdez had previously pleaded guilty in July to one count of conspiring to produce a false identification document.

ICE deports Portuguese man convicted of narco-terrorism
Malam Mane Sanha was sentenced May 22 to 36 months imprisonment following a guilty plea for conspiracy to commit narco-terrorism; conspiracy to import cocaine into the United States; conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, specifically the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC); and conspiracy to acquire and transfer anti-aircraft missiles.

3 Dallas-Fort Worth-area men sentenced to lengthy federal prison sentences for their roles in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy
Samuel Hebert, 32, was sentenced to 240 months in federal prison. Joseph Sutton, 32, was sentenced to 140 months in federal prison, and Steven Villegas, 32, was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison. Each pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is holding a Pharmacy Diversion Awareness Conference (PDAC) in Pittsburgh, Pa. December 10-11. The conference is part of the DEA?s ongoing 360 Strategy to address prescription opioid and heroin abuse in Western Pennsylvania. Hundreds of pharmacists from across Pennsylvania are expected to attend the conference jointly hosted by Demetra Ashley, DEA?s Associate Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Office of Diversion Control, and Philadelphia Field Division Special Agent in Charge Gary Tuggle.
