SAN FRANCISCO -- Eight people who chained themselves together in the lobby of Sen. Dianne Feinstein's San Francisco office Thursday afternoon have been arrested, event organizers said.
Luis Ojeda, an activist with the California Immigrant Youth Justice Alliance, said that eight activists were arrested in Feinstein's office at 1 Post St. at about 12:45 p.m.
The activists were rallying with dozens of others in opposition to what they say is the senator's support of anti-immigration legislation following a homicide San Francisco's Pier 14 earlier this month allegedly at the hands of a Mexican national.
Kathryn Steinle, a 32-year-old Pleasanton native, was killed in the shooting on July 1.
Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, who has been charged with murder in Steinle's death, was previously deported from the U.S. five times and had a criminal history including seven prior felony convictions.
Lopez-Sanchez was released from San Francisco County Jail before the shooting despite a federal immigration detainer request.
San Francisco has a "sanctuary city" policy that prohibits law enforcement personnel from detaining someone on the basis of an immigration detainer request when they would otherwise be eligible for release from custody.
Feinstein in an open letter to San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee earlier this month said Steinle's death was preventable and urged the city to participate in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's new Priority Enforcement Program, which was created as part of President Barack Obama's executive actions on immigration in November 2014.Feinstein said in the letter that additional federal legislation on the issue may be necessary.
Organizers of Thursday's protest said in a statement that Feinstein plans to introduce legislation that will "undermine trust in law enforcement and cause serious civil rights violations."
Police were not immediately available Thursday afternoon to confirm the arrests of the protesters.

I believe that all sorts of these direct protests to influence US officials are unlawful. Lobbying (which includes agitation) for foreign principals is illegal when it happens outside the proper channels; Please see the law for yourself here:http://www.fara.gov/
Please complain to the Congressional Judiciary Committees;

Here is Barack O. himself making a complaint:
Mr. Glenn A. Fine
United States Department of Justice
950 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, D.C. 20530
Dear Mr. Fine,July 9, 2008
It has come to our attention that there have been severe lapses in the enforcement of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). We would like to know more about the decision-making process behind FARA enforcement and whether or not enforcement has been uneven or lax over time.
As you are well aware, FARA was passed in 1938 and requires disclosure of all lobbying contacts made on behalf of foreign governments, individuals, political parties, and corporations. Disclosure is important in order for the American public to know who is influencing U.S. policy from abroad. Recently, we introduced the Closing the Foreign Lobbying Loophole Act (S. 3123) in order to close two loopholes in the law that allow certain foreign agents to operate without the sunlight of disclosure.
We believe that the requirements under FARA are clear and should be enforced in all circumstances. Violations of the disclosure law that go unpunished can undermine U.S. policy and pose national security risks to the American people. Furthermore, any specter of uneven or lax enforcement can render a very important statute toothless.
We know that you share our commitment to maintaining the public’s trust in government. We believe that allowing individuals to break the law and operate in the dark on behalf of foreign entities will erode this trust we hold so dear. Therefore, we request an examination of the Department’s enforcement record on FARA, including an analysis of all the considerations taken into account when the Department determines whether or how to enforce the law. We hope that you take appropriate steps within your Department to look into the causes of uneven or lax enforcement and provide the Attorney General or his appropriate subordinate with suggestions on how to fix any enforcement problems immediately. We also request that you transmit to us, and the appropriate congressional committees of jurisdiction, a report on your findings.
We look forward to hearing from you on this matter.
