Illegal alien pleads guilty in illegal ID case

Associated Press

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - An illegal alien pleaded guilty to conspiracy in a case involving the production of fake identification documents, a federal prosecutor said Wednesday.

Luis Enrique Delrio-Olivarez, 44, of Louisville, faces up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney David L. Huber's office.

Delrio-Olivarez pleaded guilty to conspiring with others to possess an document-making implement and false ID documents, including U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service resident alien cards, Mexican driver's licenses, Mexican birth certificates and more than five Social Security cards, Huber's statement said.

As part of the conspiracy, Delrio-Olivarez and the others would hand out business cards with a name and telephone number and designs implying the information was for a mechanic, plumber or handyman, prosecutors said. The cards actually provided contact information to obtain false documents, the statement said.

Sentencing was scheduled for Oct. 27.

Three other illegal aliens from Louisville pleaded guilty in June in a similar scheme.
