Immigration a hot topic at LULAC Convention
June 4, 2006, 10:17 PM
CORPUS CHRISTI - Immigration reform was the hot topic at this weekend's 77th Annual LULAC State Convention. Delegates said some of the proposed legislation on immigration reform isn't a realistic solution.
"A lot of people have proposed solutions, militarizing the border, cutting off benefits to immigrants, putting up a wall, but is all that really going to help, you know that's what we really need to start looking at," said Roger Rocha, Director Texas LULAC.
He said he's all for securing the border, but doesn't think law makers have come up with a good proposal for immigration reform.
"We need a good strong comprehensive bill for immigration, we need to strengthen our borders, because we do believe in border security, but we believe that the right arm of the government needs to be protecting the borders." Like the Border Patrol and Joe Ortiz agrees and while he said he doesn't have the answers to fixing the problems, he's glad legislators are at least looking at updating the immigration system and have proposed a bill that would create a temporary worker program, opening the way for millions of illegal immigrants to become U.S. citizens.
"I think we're heading in the right direction, and that's a plan to legalize all immigrants thought the system," said Joe Ortiz, District Director LULAC. "There's no good solution for this but it's a step in the right direction." A controversial step some legislators don't agree with.

Does Joe know left from right?
Joe Ortiz, District Director LULAC. "There's no good solution for this but it's a step in the right direction."
No Joe, that's heading in the LEFT direction----you need to take your rhetoric and illegals SOUTH to Venezuela, Bolivia, and Columbia! That would then really be the "right" direction!Title 8,U.S.C.§1324 prohibits alien smuggling, conspiracy, aiding and
abetting!

That word rears it's ugly head...
Comprehensive ...a bill that would create a temporary worker program, opening the way for millions of illegal immigrants to become U.S. citizens.
"I think we're heading in the right direction, and that's a plan to legalize all immigrants thought the system," said Joe Ortiz, District Director LULAC.
Finally, someone in that camp told the truth about the word comprehensive. It's Amnesty!
