Immigration officers nab American wanted for various crimes

Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents arrested on Tuesday in Angeles City an American fugitive who is facing a string of criminal cases in the United States.
Wayne Russell Collins was arrested in Angeles City, Pampanga after days of intensive surveillance by members of the bureau’s fugitive search unit (FSU), according to Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente on Wednesday.

Collins is now detained at the BI detention facility in Bicutan, Taguig City while awaiting deportation.

BI Legal Division chief Atty. Arvin Cesar Santos said Collins will also be included in the Immigration blacklist to prevent the American from re-entering the country.

Morente said the 63-year-old was indicted for kidnapping, robbery, homicide, seven counts of assault and battery, six counts of burglary, three counts of domestic violence, three counts of obstruction of justice, and three counts of resisting arrest.

“We have to deport him right away because his presence here poses a serious risk to public safety and security,” the BI chief said.

Collins’ passport was already canceled by the US State Department, making him an undesirable alien in the Philippines. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
