Investigation Leads to Cloned Trucks, Tons of Marijuana

EDINBURG - Drug Enforcement Administration agents are looking for the owners of two cloned trucks and nearly six tons of marijuana
    .
Authorities found the drugs in a warehouse in Edinburg.

The drugs and cloned trucks were discovered after an investigation into stolen farm equipment in Mission. A tip led officers to the warehouse on Jasmin Street in Edinburg.

Police found more than the stolen tractors. Inside the warehouse they found a cloned tanker truck and tortilla delivery truck.

Investigators discovered drug compartments welded into the tanker. They did not find any drugs in the tanker. They said it was used for smuggling.

Officers found 11,300 pounds of marijuana in the tortilla delivery truck, Mission Police Cpl. Manny Casas said.

The case was turned over to the DEA. Police believe the case is part of a much larger operation.

No arrests have been made, police said.

Casas said the smugglers used professional equipment to clone the trucks, but they made some big mistakes.

"One of the dead giveaways was ... they misspelled a lot of words. Whoever did it apparently did not know how to spell or did not do a good job," Casas said.

Police also seized farm equipment and an assault rifle.

Are these trucks part of the Mexican trucks that Obama is now allowing to roll into the US without inspection?

    Sounds like local delivery trucks.
