June 1 - Recent busts on Kansas highways have landed dozens of illegal immigrants in custody. It may seem like a growing problem, but officials say they're seeing an increase in busts because more citizens are on the lookout for suspicious activity.

On Wednesday, Kansas Highway Patrol found 18 illegal immigrants traveling in a van on I-135 near Park City. Troopers say they've been dealing with the problem for years but it's only recently getting public attention.

Troopers say they only thing that's changed is awareness. They believe the issue is on people's minds because of the ongoing immigration debate in Washington and a few recent high-profile accidents around the state.

Once troopers get a report of illegal immigrants traveling through the state they try to respond. However, they must wait until the vehicle violates a traffic rule before they can pull it over. If immigration services can respond the illegal immigrants are taken into custody. Troopers say the situation is frustrating because immigration officials are only available about half the time.

Way to go Kansans! Of course the bleeding hearts will be out soon with their tired old "racial-profiling" mantra....

Well if it is citizens calling in the complaints and the police have to respond to a call, at least they cannot accuse the police of racial profiling as they are just responding to a call.

What is the lawyer going to do...sue the American public for racial profiling? Although with all that is going on I guess that would not surprise me either.
