Left Wing Gay Rights Activist Shoots Guard at Family Research Council Offices

ALIPAC NOTE: Gary Bowers is telling people that this shooter has been identified as a gay rights activist with a beef against the Family Research Council over traditional marriage issues. This report is not verified yet and you can count on the liberal media attempting to hide this if accurate. FRC supports immigration enforcement like ALIPAC and is often maligned and defamed by the same groups like the ADL and SPLC that try to stir up violence against conservatives they oppose using lies and defamation. Reports are coming in the gunman carried a Chic Fil A bag.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- An armed man walked into the Washington headquarters of a conservative Christian lobbying group Wednesday morning and was confronted by a security guard, whom he shot in the arm before being wrestled to the ground, authorities said.
It wasn't immediately known whether the confrontation was related to the work of the Family Research Council, which strongly opposes gay marriage and abortion.
The man was taken into custody by the FBI and was being interviewed. Authorities haven't released his name.
"We don't know enough yet about him ... or mentally what he's thinking," said James McJunkin, assistant director in charge of the FBI's Washington field office.
The guard, who was an employee of the FRC, was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
"Our first concern is with our colleague who was shot today," the group's president, Tony Perkins, said in a statement.
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said in a statement that he was appalled by the shooting. "There is no place for such violence in our society," he said. "My prayers go out to the wounded security guard and his family, as well as all the people at the Family Research Council whose sense of security has been shattered by today's horrific events."
The headquarters of the Family Research Council is in the city's bustling Chinatown neighborhood, near the Verizon Center, the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery and several museums, restaurants and shops.
Amy Biondi and her husband Steve were visiting Washington from Long Island with their daughter and a friend and tried to ask officers for help with a parking meter when they were told there was a situation they had to deal with. The door to the FRC was opened, and an officer repeatedly shouted, "Put the gun down, put the gun down."
"Next thing you know there are police officers swarming the area," said Biondi, 45, a massage therapist from St. James, N.Y.
The family didn't get a close look, but they said the man officers were talking to seemed to comply with the orders immediately.
The Family Research Council advocates conservative positions on social issues and strongly opposes gay marriage and abortion.
Perkins was an outspoken defender of Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy's public stand against same-sex marriage, which made the fast-food chain a flashpoint in the nation's culture wars. The Cathy family foundation has funded the Family Research Council.
"He's taking a bold stand," Perkins said after Cathy's comments were reported. "Chick-fil-A is a Bible-based, Christian-based business who treats their employees well. They have been attacked in the past about their stand. But they refuse to budge on this matter, and I commend them for what they are doing."

SOURCES: Gunman With Chick-Fil-A Bag Opens Fire At Conservatives

Hero guard shot thwarting attack at Family Research Council HQ
    Published August 15, 2012 | FoxNews.com

A security guard at the Family Research Council's headquarters in Washington, D.C. is being hailed as a hero after he stopped a gunman posing as an intern, taking a bullet in the arm before wrestling the suspect to the ground.

The gunman entered the lobby of the organization's Chinatown headquarters around 10:45 and expressed disagreement with the conservative group's policy positions, Fox News has learned. When the guard, who was not identified, asked him where he was going, he opened fire, according to police.

“The security guard here is a hero, as far as I’m concerned,” D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said. ”He did his job. The person never made it past the front.”

The guard, who was not identified, was shot in the arm and was conscious after the shooting and was in stable condition. The gunman, who also was not identified, was being questioned by the FBI, sources said. Sources said he is in his twenties.

The suspect "made statements regarding their policies, and then opened fire with a gun striking a security guard," a source told Fox News. WJLA-TV7 reported the suspect was also shot. Sources also said the gunman may have been carrying a bag from Chick-fil-A, the embattled fast-food restaurant whose president came under fire from gay activists after he said he did not agree with same-sex marriage.

Sources told Fox New that after guard took away his gun, the suspect said, "Don't shoot me, it was not about you, it was what this place stands for."

Authorities were treating the attack as a case of domestic terrorism, although James McJunkin, the head of the FBI’s Washington Field Office, said authorities do not yet know the gunman's motive.

    LifeSiteNews.com reports...

WASHINGTON, August 15, August 15, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A security guard is in stable condition after being shot at the Family Research Council headquarters Wednesday in an incident authorities are reportedly treating as domestic terrorism.

FRC spokesperson Darin Miller confirmed the shooting to LifeSiteNews.com late Wednesday morning before releasing a statement from FRC president Tony Perkins.

“The police are investigating this incident. Our first concern is with our colleague who was shot today. Our concern is for him and his family,” said Perkins.

One local report initially said that another individual was also wounded, but now reports only the injury of the security guard. The guard was reportedly shot in the arm and retained consciousness, while a suspect is in police custody.

That is terrible, but at least people can't say only the right wing does such things.

And Happy2BeMe, the Occupy Wallstreet movement is about attempting to end the cesspool of plutocracy that this nation has fallen into, and most members aren't Socialist or Communist-they just want America back the way it used to be just a few decades ago-when people had good-paying jobs and weren't losing their homes, and when our jobs weren't being shipped overseas in droves. Please don't judge the entire movement by one bad apple-just like people shouldn't judge all conservatives by the recent shootings in CO and WI.

People are judged by their actions. The occupy group doesn't have a good reputation. Oakland is one example that comes to mind.

Suspect in Washington shooting expressed political grudge

    By Ian Simpson
    WASHINGTON | Thu Aug 16, 2012 1:29pm EDT

(Reuters) - The man charged in a shooting at a conservative Christian lobbying group in downtown Washington told a guard "I don't like your politics" before wounding him, according to court documents filed on Thursday.

Floyd Lee Corkins II, 28, of Herndon, Virginia, also was carrying 15 sandwiches from Chick-fil-A, a fast-food chain, in the Wednesday shooting at the Family Research Council, a criminal complaint said.

The Family Research Council strongly opposes same-sex marriage and abortion, and Corkins had worked as a volunteer at a Washington center for homosexuals, bisexuals and transgender people. Chick-fil-A's president has publicly opposed same-sex marriage.

Corkins' parents told FBI agents that Corkins "has strong opinions with respect to those he believes do not treat homosexuals in a fair manner," the complaint said.
Corkins faces a District of Columbia charge of assault with intent to kill while armed. He also is charged with interstate transportation of a firearm and ammunition.

He will make an initial appearance in U.S. District Court on Thursday afternoon, the U.S. Attorney's office said.

The complaint said Corkins entered the offices of the Family Research Council and was stopped at the door by a security guard, according to the complaint.
A witness told FBI agents that Corkins "stated words to the effect of, 'I don't like your politics,'" the complaint said.

Surveillance camera footage showed that Corkins then pulled a Sig Sauer 9mm pistol from a backpack and shot the guard in the arm. The wounded guard wrestled the gun from Corkins and subdued him. A second guard called 911, the complaint said.

Investigators recovered two more loaded magazines at the scene. They found another 50 rounds of ammunition and the Chick-fil-A sandwiches in Corkins' backpack.

The complaint said that Corkins lived with his parents. He had left their car at a Virginia subway station before the attack.

Corkins faces up to 10 years in prison for the federal weapons charge and up to 30 years for the District of Columbia offense. The District of Columbia charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years.
