TRENTON - A Liberian national accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl was sentenced to prison Friday.

Leon Nimley, 54, of Trenton, was given a five-year sentence for the assault. Superior Court Judge Robert Billmeier said Nimley was expected to be deported following his time in prison.

Nimley had pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault.

The 54-year-old is accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in March 2015. He was arrested and charged that same month, Mercer County prosecutors said.

Nimley came to the country illegally and is on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.

During his sentencing Friday, Nimley asked to be deported immediately but Billmeier said he had to serve time in prison before being sent back to Liberia.
