A Mexican national has been indicted in Charleston on charges of illegal re-entry of a felon.

David Ramirez Ramon, 35, could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted, according to U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles.

The case was investigated by agents with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Homeland Security.

The U.S. Attorney's Office stressed in a statement that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
