-- Los Angeles Mayor Elect Antonio Villaraigosa to Address Major National Political Conference
-- Rising Star To Help Progressives "Take Back America" Wednesday, June 1, 2005
Los Angeles mayor elect Antonio Villaraigosa's first national event after yesterday's election is at the Campaign for America's Future's 2005 "Take Back America" conference on Wednesday, June 1 in Washington. The conference will bring together the largest group of progressive leaders since last year's elections to discuss the ideas and infrastructure needed to forge a political majority.
As the mayor of the country's second largest city, Villaraigosa immediately becomes a national leader. Villaraigosa's win is about more than just taking back City Hall. It's about building a movement to change America. His victory emboldens progressives to build a movement that offers a clear alternative to the failed policies of the right and that can take back America.
Villaraigosa is the city's first Hispanic mayor since the 1800s. Villaraigosa is a member of the Campaign for America's Future's board of directors, a city councilman and former assembly speaker. The new Los Angeles mayoral term begins Thursday, June 30.

Perhaps I haven't read much news on this new mayor of Los Angeles, but from what little I've read it seems his victory is a victory only for the "reclaim Azlatan" crowd and he doesn't truly have America's best interests at heart (other than for hispanics). What does his campaign "taking America back" really mean??? Dumb question, I suppose.
Comments please since I haven't followed the news too much, but it just doesn't seem to me that this mayor is a good thing for Los Angeles.
Hey, anyone here know if this guy is legal or illegal? I suppose that if he's elected mayor, there could be no way in hell he could be illegal, but many do live in this country illegally for many, many years without applying for citizenship. Still, even though I asked the question, if this guy is illegal, I will be shocked.
Maybe these are daft questions and I may seem clueless and maybe I am, but I'm still new to this issue plus I haven't been following closely the new LA mayor's election. I'd just like some input from members here who are more informed even though I believe I know what the answers already are.People who take issue with control of population do not understand that if it is not done in a graceful way, nature will do it in a brutal fashion - Henry Kendall

The 'Take Back America' campaign is Atzlan. They make it perfectly clear that we stole their land for them and they are reclaiming it.
That's why I posted the article. Hispanics are holding the meeting which he is key speaker, in which he himself, claims that they are there to "reclaim their country'.
I'm surprised no one is reacting much to this at all.RIP Butterbean! We miss you and hope you are well in heaven.-- Your ALIPAC friends

John KERRY was one of the FIRST CALLS of Congrats made to this Mex Mayor. That should help paint the bigger picture.
He's now the DARLING of the Libs and will be used to gather Hispanic voting strength. He'll use them to push him into a Congressional Seat.
I'd like to add that the Black community put him into the Mayoral Seat. There's also a Black Radio host that's calling for a pact between Mexicans and blacks to "GET WHITEY." I do believe that LA might be a conduit for future violence.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
