FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - A Colombian man who was sentenced in Frederick County on sex abuse charges, was returned to his native country Monday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations.

Robert Alexis Saldarriaga-Yepes, 20, was living in New Market, Md., when he was arrested on Dec. 6, 2012 by Frederick County Sheriff deputies on child exploitation related charges. At the time, the female victim was 9-years-old.

On May 20, 2013 Saldarriaga was found guilty of sex abuse of a minor, and sentenced to 30 years in prison with all but 18 months suspended. Following his criminal conviction, ICE executed an administrative deportation order Sept. 12, 2013, charging him as an aggravated felon and ordered his removal from the United States.

According to officials Saldarriaga entered the United States from Colombia in August 2010 as an F-1 student attending Carroll Christian Schools in Westminster, Maryland.

Saldarriaga arrived via an ICE Air Operations charter flight at the El Dorado International Airport in Bogota, Colombia, and was turned over to Colombian law enforcement authorities by ERO officers.
