No injuries to agents or damage to U.S. property were reported, a Border Patrol spokesman said, according to KVOA-TV.
The helicopter fired two shots at the agents early Tuesday morning as part of a “drug interdiction operation,” Border Patrol spokesman Andy Adame told KVOA.
“[A] Mexican law enforcement helicopter crossed approximately 100 yards north into Arizona nearly 8 miles southwest of the village of San Miguel on the Tohono O’odham Indian Nation while on a drug interdiction operation near the border,” Adame said in a statement. “Two shots were fired from the helicopter but no injuries or damage to U.S. property were reported. The incident is currently under investigation.”
Mexican officials contacted U.S. authorities soon after and apologized for the incident, Tucson sector Border Patrol union president Art del Cueto told KVOA.
The incident took place on the Tohono O’odham Nation, which resides in southern-central Arizona and parts of northern Mexico.

Either the Mexican cartels or Mexico means harm or war with the United States. Whether they were 100 yards on our side or theirs, firing upon officers of the U.S is a blatant act of war that cannot be denied! I'm writing my Congressman again telling him that fhis is too frequent, and that it deserves a very serious response in kind.

As well, since so many that have crossed the border are not vetted, I will suggest that for the nations security immediate deportation would be just an act of sugical, but humane, defense

Startling Report: Mexican Military Chopper Crosses Into Arizona and Fires At US Border Patrol Agents

A Mexican military helicopter is shaking up the immigration debate.
On Thursday, the chopper was conducting a drug-related operation and crossed the border into Arizona. Then – in U.S. airspace – it fired two shots at border patrol agents.
    KOVA News4 reports:
The incident occurred west of the San Miguel Gate on the Tohono O’odham Indian Nation. The agents were unharmed. The helicopter went back into Mexico. Mexico then contacted U.S. authorities and apologized for the incident.
While it’s fortunate that no one was injured or worse, the fact that something like this was even possible raises more “real time” questions about our border’s security:

    • In 2005, federal officials were investigating possible links between the ruthless gang MS-13, which makes a lot of money smuggling people across the border, and the terrorist group, Al Qaeda.
    • In 2010, the Dept of Homeland Security issued a terror watch to Texas for a member of the Radical Islamist group Al-Shabaab, who might try to gain entry into the U.S. through Mexico.

We can only hope this recent event helps the administration understand the importance of taking immigration more seriously.

BREAKING: Military Chopper From Mexico Opens Fire On U.S. Border Agents On U.S. Soil!

    By Eric Odom
    2 12:06 pm June 27, 2014

As if the situation on the border isn’t already bad enough… now this.
Border Patrol agents in Arizona were reportedly fired upon by a Mexican military helicopter that traveled across the border.
KVOA-TV reports that Mexican authorities were conducting a drug interdiction operation when the incident happened early Thursday morning on the Tohono O’odham Indian Nation. The Mexican chopper fired at the agents and then flew back into Mexico.
Art del Cueto, Border Patrol Tucson Sector union president, tells KVOA that they called and apologized for the incident.
“The incident occurred after midnight and before 6 a.m. Helicopter flew into the U.S. and fired on two U.S. Border Patrol agents,” del Cueto said in a statement to KVOA. “The incident occurred west of the SanMiguel Gate on the Tohono O’odham Indian Nation. The agents were unharmed. The helicopter went back into Mexico. Mexico then contacted U.S. authorities and apologized for the incident.”

In case you missed it earlier, Bill O’Reilly is calling for a full boycott of Mexico.

Counterclaims over shots fired near U.S.-Mexico border

    STORY HIGHLIGHTS

    • NEW: A Mexican official says he doesn't think Mexican helicopters crossed into the U.S.
    • NEW: Mexican authorities didn't fire any shots, but "criminals" were shooting, he adds
    • A U.S. official had said a Mexican helicopter crossed about 100 yards into Arizona
    • Two shots were fired near U.S. border agents, but no one was hurt, the official adds

(CNN) -- Shots were fired this week near the U.S. border with Mexico, with a U.S. official saying they came from a Mexican law enforcement helicopter, something that a Mexican official denies.

The Mexican helicopter crossed into Arizona and fired two shots near U.S. border agents, a U.S. law enforcement official said Friday. No one returned fire, and the helicopter returned to Mexico.

No one was hurt in the incident, which happened about 6 a.m. local time Thursday about 100 yards into U.S. territory, the official said on condition of anonymity.

A separate official, U.S. Border Patrol spokeswoman Vivian McLoughlin, confirmed the helicopter crossed into U.S. territory, saying it happened at 5:45 a.m. Thursday. She did not provide further details.

Tomas Zeron, director of the Mexican attorney general's investigative office, offered a different story Friday.

While acknowledging Mexican authorities were conducting an operation "on the border," Zeron said, "I do not think we crossed the border because we brought our navigation. But it was just 100 meters from the border."

He said helicopters from the attorney general's office and defense ministry "were shot at by criminals," several of whom were later apprehended by Mexican authorities.

"The only ones doing the shooting were those that we have now detained," Zeron said.

The first U.S. source said that Mexican authorities have called U.S. authorities and acknowledged a mistake, saying shots were fired from the helicopter after it accidentally crossed the border.

But Zeron gave no indication that any mistake was made or apology was necessary, suggesting that Mexican authorities did nothing wrong.

Mexico condemns Border Patrol's lethal force against migrant

Mexican authorities said Thursday's drug smuggling and trafficking operation culminated in the rescue of 39 migrants, detention of four people and securing of a ranch on the U.S. border.

This isn't the first case of the two allies having issues along their shared border.

Some of these have to do with efforts to corral the drug or weapons trade, with the latter being especially significant in Mexico given fears that such arms could end up in the hands of powerful drug cartels.

Citing a response he said came from the Department of Homeland Security, Rep. Duncan Hunter said earlier this month that there have been some 300 documented incursions by Mexican military and law enforcement authorities since 2004.

"While the number of unauthorized incursions by Mexican authorities is relatively few, it is imperative for our officer safety to handle each situation assertively but with sensitivity and professionalism," DHS said in a response to Duncan's request, according to the Republican congressman from California.

Mexico is selling but I'm not buying. On average 2.5 incursions a month, those are not accidents, a few maybe since 2004, but 300? State dep't should be using it for great leverage to get our marine released.

However, the border patrol is adequately depressed now! I will believe their story. I've known enough Mexicans to know that being less than absolutely honest seems to be a part of their culture.

I'm guessing it was an unfortunate mistake, which would mean it wasn't a "blatant act of war." Actually, I'm glad to see Mexican law enforcement involved in an attempt to stop possible members of a drug cartel. Honestly, I was beginning to think all Mexican law enforcement did was sit on the border eating donuts, drinking coffee, and laughing each time another illegal drug smuggler crossed the border.

American Security Contractors: Mexican Military Pushed Drug Mules Across U.S. Border

by Kerry Picket 27 Jun 2014, 7:54 PM PDT
    breitbart

A group of American independent security contractors on the ground in Arizona witnessed smugglers and mules running for the American side of the border, when a Mexican military helicopter shot at U.S. border patrol agents.

"They saw the smugglers and mules hastily moving ahead of the Mexican army crossing the river and moving quickly for cover on the US side. Then the helicopter flew in firing at near by border patrol. The smugglers and mules scattered,” Matthew Leber, spokesman for The American Patriots The Three Percent, an organization who helps solicit private donations for the team of former special ops, told Breitbart News Friday night.

A Mexican military helicopter that traveled across the border, KVOA-TV reported, fired upon two U.S. Border Patrol Agents in Arizona west of the San Miguel Gate on the Tohono O'Odham Nation early Thursday morning. Mexican authorities contacted U.S. officials, reportedly, and apologized for the incident, which is currently under investigation.

“The mules and the Mexican smugglers that were on the Mexican side were being pushed by the Mexican army. I don’t know if they were in conflict with them or if it was something that was orchestrated, but when they crossed the border, the Mexican Army was on the other side and the helicopter came across and they fired on border patrol,” Leber said, noting that the team of security contractors cannot confirm if the action taken by the Mexican military was a diversionary tactic, and the smugglers were working in tandem with the Mexican military or if the smugglers on the ground and the mules were being positioned against their will.
