Mexicans briefly block bridge leading into El Paso

    10/13/2006

    Associated Press

A group of activists protesting U.S. immigration policies and proposals to build more border fences briefly blocked three of four lanes of an international bridge leading into El Paso, Texas, on Thursday.

Hundreds of protesters marched for several miles to the Mexican side of the Sante Fe bridge, in the downtown section of Ciudad Juarez, blocking much of the bridge and listening to speeches for about a half hour before withdrawing.

The protesters pledged to stop construction of what they called "The Wall of Death," arguing that it would cause more deaths among migrants seeking to reach the United States.

Speakers at the protest included U.S. activists, and the demonstration snarled the already-heavy traffic at the bridge.

The march served as the kickoff for the First Social Border Forum, which will begin Friday and run through the weekend in Ciudad Juarez. The gathering will discuss the impact of border policies on migrants, the environment and human rights.

"The protesters pledged to stop construction of what they called "The Wall of Death," arguing that it would cause more deaths among migrants seeking to reach the United States."

Idiots! The reason we are building the wall is to keep them from migrating. It is their own fault if they die trying to break the law.

Their arrogance never ceases to amaze me. Now they are going to blame more deaths because of the wall? Unbelievable.
NO NO, let's not take any accountability for our own actions, let's just blame it on something else.

It is apparent that their inability to take any personal responsibility for their own actions and that of their chosen leadership, is why they as a people and a nation still are considered a third world country.

They harp about how difficult their lives are, yet this is exactly why, they do not want to really work for a better life their, they just want to come in and take what we and our ancestors have already set up, that way it is easier and they can claim it as theirs.

Kind of like getting take out and claiming you made it from scratch.

These folks were effectively guilty of a crime. Last time a checked, physically disrupting travel and commerce is a crime. Why weren't these people rounded up and prosecuted? This situation should not be interpreted as a people simply exercising their First Amendment rights.

    Were these folks American citizens?
