MIAMI COUNTY — A Miami County Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a traffic stop on Sunday and reportedly found three undocumented immigrants and suspected drugs within the vehicle. The drugs were believed to be methamphetamine and marijuana, according to court records.

Luis Diaz Dominguez, 28, of Tampa, Fla., was charged with fifth-degree felony possession of drugs and minor misdemeanor possession possession of marijuana.

The traffic stop took place at Interstate 75 mile marker 81. The deputy began following the vehicle around mile marker 68. The vehicle was reportedly travelling around 90 mph and “weaving in and out of traffic,” according to court records.

Dominguez reportedly admitted that the drugs belonged to him. Also recovered from Dominguez’s wallet was a fake Social Security card and a fake U.S. residency card, and Dominguez also had three cell phones. A large amount of money was also found, including over $1,000 in cash and 720 pesos. Dominguez claimed it was from picking blueberries.

The items and drugs recovered from the scene were seized along with the vehicle. The drugs were sent to the Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab for further testing.

An immigration query was sent to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The undocumented immigrants were held in the Miami County Jail before being picked up by ICE.

Dominguez was arraigned in Miami County Municipal Court on Monday. He was also cited for speeding and driving without a valid license.

Dominguez is currently being held at the Miami County Jail on a total of $10,5000 bond. A Spanish interpreter was appointed for this case, and a preliminary hearing for Dominguez was scheduled for May 17.
