NOGALES, Ariz. - Two men have been arrested after federal agents pulled over a semi-truck northeast of Nogales and discovered more than a ton of marijuana inside.

The truck was stopped about 10 p.m. Thursday on Old Tucson Highway and a U.S. Border Patrol canine detected the presence of marijuana. Agents say a subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 100 bundles of marijuana weighing more than 2,400 pounds. The seized marijuana has an estimated street value of nearly $2 million.

Authorities say the driver of the semi-truck was 46-year-old Martin Ignacio Contreras-Angulo, who was arrested along with 19-year-old passenger Vicente Aron Ochoa-Tapia. Both men have been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Contreras-Angulo is from Mexico and Ochoa-Tapia is a U.S. citizen, but their hometowns were not immediately available Friday.
