McALLEN — Federal authorities arrested two men who were hiding in Edinburg from authorities in Mexico who sought them on murder charges in the slaying of a 15-year-old during a carjacking.
On Tuesday afternoon, the U.S. Marshals Service and U.S. Customs and Border Protection personnel escorted Humberto Villaseñor Soto and Osvaldo De La Paz Soto to the middle of the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge, where they turned the two men over to their Mexican counterparts.
The two men had been caught Tuesday morning in Edinburg after the Marshals’ Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force got information that the two were living in an apartment complex, a news release shows. After a surveillance operation, federal agents caught the two hiding inside a bedroom.
The men were wanted by Michoacan State Police for the murder of 15-year-old Alan Milián Garcia, who was gunned down Jan. 24 outside his home in Morelia, Michoacan, according to Mexican media reports. The teen was shot during the carjacking of his mother’s car.
Mexican authorities called the U.S. Marshals after they learned that the two men had fled to the U.S.
