N.J. deportations up 25 percent in year
N.J. deportations up 25 percent in year
Friday, November 7, 2008
Immigration officials in New Jersey deported more than 4,000 people in the latest fiscal year, a 25 percent increase over the previous 12-month period, authorities announced on Thursday.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency said the rise in deportations reflects a more aggressive effort that began in recent years to track down and deport people who are living here unlawfully, as well as criminal immigrants.
Some 30 percent, or 1,263, of those immigrants deported in the latest fiscal year had criminal records, ICE said.
New Jersey ICE officials deported 3,339 immigrants the previous fiscal year. (The federal fiscal year runs from October to September.)
Nationally, ICE deported 349,000 illegal immigrants, a 20 percent increase over the previous year.
An estimated 500,000 illegal immigrants live in New Jersey, and 12 million in the United States.

Heavy concentrations of illegal aliens are not hard to locate in NJ, start checking the nightclubs. Everyone needs ID to get in a nightclub right? No excuse not having one. Check everyone in the nightclub and I'd bet at least half are illegal aliens, with quite a few underage to boot.
