A Chihuahua state police investigator was one of nine males killed in two separate attacks in Juárez on Tuesday.

The first assault occurred at lunch time when gunmen fired about 50 rounds at men on a street and inside the Tony gorditas shop in colonia Melchor Ocampo, police said.

State investigator Luis Alonso Rojas Garcia, 29, was among the five men slain. Officials said Rojas joined the state prosecutor's office in May 2009. The other victims were Jesus Andres Oreza, Armando Ortiz Luna, Jose Soto Murguia and a man who had not been identified.

The second attack occurred about 1:30 p.m. when shooters with AK-47s killed four people in the garage of a home in colonia Riveras del Bravo.

Police identified the dead as Raul Alberto, Jimenez Carreon, 16, Luis Daniel Jimenez Carreon, 18, Francisco Perales Bañuelos, 23, and Julio Cesar Barbere Cardenas, 34.
