Obama Decree Increasing Illegal Immigration, Says Guatemalan Press

by Ildefonso Ortiz 4 Dec 2014

Guatemalan immigration officials are seeing an increase in people leaving their country hoping to benefit from President Barack Obama’s executive order that granted amnesty to approximately 5 million illegal aliens living in America.

Following the November 20 announcement about executive action on immigration, Guatemala has seen a spike in migration from individuals thinking they will also benefit from it, Guatemala’s La Prensa Libre reported.

While in televised speeches and in press conferences Obama Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson have said that the executive action is only for those who have been in the country for more than five years and others would be placed into priority deportation list, the message appears to have already been twisted in Central America.

According to the Latin American publication, Alejandra Gordillo, the director of the Guatemalan Migrant Assistance Council, said the immigration announcement can be a motivator for human smugglers who can trick Guatemalans in to paying large sums under the impression that they would be welcomed into America with open arms.

Gordillo said that two of her department’s offices have been contacted by people who are planning on traveling to America without documents thinking they will be included in the executive action.

La Prensa Libre claims that in the past 11 months, Guatemala has already seen more than 48,000 deportations with even more expected in the coming months.

This is so terrible. This President has to go and go now. Impeachment is the only proper response to what he's done. Americans can not allow this man to continue to hold his position. I'm no fan of impeachment and opposed the other 2 in my lifetime. But this time, real harm has occurred, concrete harm, much of it virtually irreversible, because the federal government can't return the lost lives of millions of Americans either put out of work by illegal aliens, suffered years of deflated wages at the hands of illegal aliens who undercut their wages, ruined schools because of so many foreign-speakers to deal with there was no time or resources for the American Kids, or lost higher educations forfeited to an illegal alien on a La Raza scholarship. This can not fly. This can not stand. This harm must be stopped and the person responsible for it removed from office. If a CEO committed a violation of a corporate charter or a ruling by the Board of Directors, especially one that cost the company a lot of money and created unnecessary debt, wouldn't he be fired post haste? Well, of course. So Republicans in office everywhere, stop kissing the wrong ass and do your damn jobs or guess what? You'll be fired in 2016.

Well, they'll have to wait until the next U. S. sell out says that it would be too mean to send them home, but 'Bama is certainly telling wannabe illegals that the door is wide open.

@Judy, Gee, I hope that you are right about Republicans doing the wrong thing already after the election would hold true, fired in "16. History over the last century shows both parties have had TOO MANY serve in Washington for 30 to 50 years. Seeing some thrown out after 8-12 years would be refreshing my faith in American voters and Congress! But, it's certainly time for many, such as Boehner, Schumer, McConnell, Sessions (Pete), Goodatte, Cornyn, and many others to go, this year would have been a grand time for them to ride into the legislative sunset.
