Well, I placed my call and voiced my extreme opposition to the proposed appointment. If Martinez is appointed, that's it for my association with the Republican Party, except that I will probably register as Republican just so that I can vote for actual Conservatives against these RINOs in the primaries. (BTW - That's an important consideration for any other disaffected Conservatives out there.) In the general elections, I'll vote against the RINOs and for independents, Libertarians, or even democrats if they are willing to fight for the issues I hold dear.

I commented that the Republican Party should have realized after these elections that they need to emphasize conservative values to be viable in the future. The Martinez appointment shows that they don't hold their party members as something of value for 2008. Therefore, I'll be seeking a Third Party to support.

I sent an email to the RNC and contacted the offices of my representatives. I encourage everyone to take action on this! Rep. Mel Martinez bad for our cause and America!

How can the Republicant party be taken seriously by the people when they pull stunts like this? Answer = they can't. They had the perfect opportunity to win voters over by putting in a straight talking black conservative like Michael Steele. I would have praised that move. I would have cheered it. It would have been a positive step in the right direction. But of course Bush does what Bush does and screws it all up by appointing a neocon hack like Martinez. Then again I don't expect anything less from the king of amnesty snakeoil himself.
