    Paraguay Faults US Immigration Policy

Asuncion, Nov 2 (Prensa Latina) Paraguayan President Nicanor Duarte reproved the US treatment of immigrants and called the wall it will erect along its border with Mexico “shameful.”

Duarte said the wall was also a poor US investment, when those funds could be used to generate jobs, ease poverty and contribute to world peace.

The statement precedes Duarte's attendance at the 16th Ibero-American Summit in Uruguay, where leaders will discuss development policies and emigration beginning Friday.

The Paraguayan president added that the topic casts doubt on free circulation since it favors products and services, but blocks free circulation of people from one place to another.

He also regretted European xenophobia against South American immigrants, who usually do the work that nationals refuse.

Duarte also called on the developed countries to honor their promises to assist the Third World.

Where does this notion come from that there should be free circulation of people beween countries? Did this arise solely because of our lax attitude toward illegal immigration these past 20 years, so all countries to our south now think they have the right to come here? Or has our government been telling other countries (not just Mexico and Canada) that we are working toward an open border situation?

I have a feeling those advocating this free migration attitude are really advocating their right to come here, but NOT our right to move there. What if Americans by the millions decided they wanted to move to Mexico, Paraguay or other Central and South American countries? Would they accept this, give Americans rights, allow them to purchase property, etc? I think they'd scream "foul".

It would work for people too, only problem they move to a developed country and go on welfare.
We call things racism just to get attention. We reduce complicated problems to racism, not because it is racism, but because it works
