Protect the Pledge from Supremacist Judges!
Tell Your Representative to vote YES on the Pledge Protection Act!

As a part of the American Values Agenda, the House of Representatives will vote on the Pledge Protection Act (H.R. 2389), sponsored by Rep. Todd Akin, on Wednesday of this week. This legislation protects the Pledge of Allegiance from supremacist judges by removing jurisdiction from federal courts and appellate jurisdiction from the Supreme Court to hear cases involving the Pledge. The House previously passed this bill in the 108th Congress by a vote of 247-173.

In 2002, activist judges in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional because it contains the words "one nation, under God." The U.S. Supreme Court heard the case in 2005 and overturned the Ninth Circuit due to a lack of standing (or right to bring the case) by the plaintiff, Michael Newdow. However, Newdow is back with a new case now pending in the Ninth Circuit, which will be decided sometime this fall.

The public overwhelmingly supports "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. Nearly nine of ten Americans support acknowledging God as our source of rights and freedoms. Activist judges should not be allowed to construe our Constitution otherwise.

Now is the time for Congress to act to protect the Pledge! Your calls are needed to pass this important bill! Please call your Member of Congress and urge a YES vote on the Pledge Protection Act!
