Press conference to protest ICE sweep scheduled for noon
DANBURY -- People upset with last week’s illegal immigrant sweep will hold a press conference at noon today in front of City Hall .

Members of the Danbury Police Coalition, the Ecuadoran Civic Center and the Danbury Area Coalition for the Rights of Immigrants said last week’s undercover operation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement unfairly targeted day laborers.

“This is a planned and coordinated attack nationally against the immigrant community,” said Chris Towne, a member of the Danbury Peace Coalition. “They are picking up people with no criminal records.”

Last week 11 illegal immigrants were picked up and detained by federal agents at Kennedy Park.

Oh! So we can't target first time offenders now! These pro-illegal supporters have some really far-out statements.

Secondly, we know illegal aliens have committed a crime, since they are more than 25 miles away from the border.

This is how it all starts. It won't take long before individual congressmen and women start putting heavy political pressure on ICE to stop the raids. I'm sure there are some already attempting to do just that. We must not let the pro-illegal advocates and corporate America win the day!
