Pro-amnesty Republicans target of ALIPAC's lobbying effort

Pro-amnesty Republicans target of ALIPAC's lobbying effort

A national anti-illegal immigration group has launched a lobbying effort aimed at nearly three dozen Republican members of Congress who are trying to help President Obama and the Democrats pass amnesty for illegal immigrants.

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) has published the list of the GOP lawmakers who it believes need to face primary challenges in 2014. The list includes high-profile congressmen like House Speaker John Boehner, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, and 2012 vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan.

William Gheen, president of ALIPAC, says those House Republicans who favor amnesty need to face strong challengers in next year's primaries.

"If we don't get the GOP primary challengers, they will pass an amnesty in 2014," he predicts. "If we get the strong GOP primary challengers for the 34 traitor Republicans, we can take them out of office."

According to Gheen, pro-amnesty Republicans are mobilized in a campaign of their own.

"The big money interests inside the Republican Party – the Karl Roves and others like Grover Norquist – are moving to protect the amnesty supporters that are on that list of 34, and they're going after the more base conservative and tea party people to try to eradicate us," he states. "If they win that move, then they will pass amnesty in 2014."

Gheen says voters in those 34 individual districts must take an active role in finding and supporting candidates who will oppose amnesty.

Boehner on Immigration: “Hellbent on Getting It Done” This Year

Posted by Jim Hoft on Friday, April 18, 2014, 8:05 AM

Speaker John Boehner told donors he would move on immigration. In March he said was “hellbent on getting this done this year.”

    The Wall Street Journal reported:

Speaker John Boehner and other senior House Republicans are telling donors and industry groups that they aim to pass immigration legislation this year, despite the reluctance of many Republicans to tackle the divisive issue before the November elections.

Many lawmakers and activists have assumed the issue was off the table in an election year. But Mr. Boehner said at a Las Vegas fundraiser last month he was “hellbent on getting this done this year,” according to two people in the room.

A spokesman for Mr. Boehner didn’t dispute the account but said no action is possible until President Barack Obama proves himself a trustworthy partner to Republicans.

Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R., Va.), chairman of the HouseJudiciary Committee, delivered an upbeat message about legislative prospects during a recent trip to Silicon Valley, said Carl Guardino, chief executive of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, who hosted his visit.

He said Mr. Goodlatte told him action in 2014 was “entirely possible,” likely in the form of votes this summer on five to seven immigration bills. A spokeswoman for Mr. Goodlatte declined to comment on the exchange.

Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R., Fla.) also is drafting legislation that would give qualifying undocumented immigrants legal status and the chance to apply for citizenship through existing channels. The bill includes border-security measures and an effort to clear the backlog of applications for permanent legal status, known as green cards.

House leaders have told Mr. Diaz-Balart to have the legislation ready to go for possible debate in June or July, an aide said.

BACHMANN EXPOSES BOEHNER’S SCHEME TO IGNORE AMNESTY – CALLS FOR (DEC. 3RD) RALLY

Has there been any firm commitment from the leadership of the Republican party saying that this amnesty is not going to happen?” Bachmann replied with a question, “Do you want the truth? Okay, I’ll tell all of Breitbart listeners what happened this week. I was floored!”
