Proposed Rules Compel Firms to Verify Workers

In an article in today's Miami Herald:

[quote]"Homeland Security is preparing rules that would compel companies to take action if they hire illegal immigrants, but others warn such action may lead to discrimination lawsuits."

In a nut shell: the empolyee social security number will be verified and if their is a discrepancy they employer has to resolve it by firing the worker or they will face federal prosection or fines.

I have a hard time believing employers don't know their illegal employees as they are working for less money, don't speak English and have other noticable differences in things like clothing, hygeine, etc.
