    Catholics pushing immigrant reforms

    Like I have said before (sorry to have to offend catholics, but) the catholic church, and especially the leadership, is one of the MAIN axis of evil players when it comes to illegal aliens in this country. I would certainly hope that catholic church members who care about this country, and keeping if from being overrun with illegals, would stand up to the leadership and say "Enough is ENOUGH! Stop acting this way NOW". I hope that there are members in the church doing this. I don't know since I am not catholic, however, I do not see the church changing its positions, so I do not think the membership is doing any such thing

    The Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake is getting on board a national effort by church leaders to work toward comprehensive immigration reform that will include a broad legalization plan for undocumented immigrants.
    The official launch of "Justice for Immigrants: The Catholic Campaign for Immigration Reform" is scheduled for Tuesday in Washington, D.C.
    "We welcome this national initiative to fix the problem and put our heads together for solutions," said Dee Rowland, government liaison for the Salt Lake Diocese.
    Rowland said immigration reform will also be a big topic on the agenda during the semiannual meeting of the Domestic Policy Advisory Committee to Catholic Bishops she's attending later this month in Washington.
    Bishop George Niederauer said his diocese isn't new to the immigration debate. Earlier this year, Bishop Niederauer wrote a letter to Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. opposing SB227 â€â€

    Why would they change....

    Think about it, most hispanics are catholics. That gives the catholic church more members, thus more money! They are no different then the employers that hire illegals! GREED!

    Well, I guess we know now how the Catholic church in America plans to address membership losses after all of the scandals.

    It appears the Open Borders crowd has a new powerful ally or at least a powerful ally that is out in the open!

    Rowland, however, sees immigration as a moral issue in the same way as abortion. Both, she said, "are about the dignity of a person."
    Now it's a moral issue? I don't see that. I see it as a national issue...a test of the rule of law. Either we obey the law or we have anarchy.

    Persons who have dignity don't go where they are not legal. It's the equivalent of burglary. Catholic Church or no Catholic Church.

    SIDE NOTE: When my husband left early this morn he said, "watch, any day they're going to trot the religious organizations out delcaring this is a MORAL ISSUE."

    Now I can call him and tell him he's right {for the first time in his life, lol}

    One thing that is MOST disgusting about this whole article, is the darn title. "Immigration reform". Why not simply call it like it is: "Selective observance of our Laws".

    Morality has nothing to do with this! However, there is LOTS of gold trim, and fancy stained glass which has to be paid for with tithe monies.

    Sorry. A "person" loses his dignity when he violates the sovereignty of my country by sneaking over it's border.

    The main reason the Catholic Church supports amnesty is Catholic Charities gets many millions of dollars from the federal government to "assist" immigrants. Mainly helping them learn how to collect public benefits and sponsor their relatives for immigration. Primarily this assistance is for legal immigrants, but if illegals are legalized, this means millions more legal immigrants, and consequently millions more of your tax dollars from Uncle Sam.
