Longs man charged with possession of firearms, ammunition by an illegal alien

A Longs man was charged with an indictment Tuesday by the Florence Division of the United States Attorney's office.

Lorenzo Rodriguez-Ortiz, AKA Gustavo Ortiz Rodriguez, AKA Monty Ortiz, AKA Jose Luis Clemente-Ixmatiahua, 33, of Longs was charged in a one-count Indictment with possession of firearms and ammunition by an illegal alien, a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(5).

The maximum penalty Lorenzo Rodriguez-Ortiz could receive is 15 years to life years imprisonment.

The case was investigated by special agents of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Jean M. Popowski of the Florence office forprosecution.

The United States Attorney stated that all charges in these Indictments aremerely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until andunless proven guilty.
