Sen. Ted Cruz: Court Decision ‘Major Victory For The Rule Of Law’

    by Caroline May
    17 Feb 2015

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is calling a federal court ruling temporarily blocking President Obama’s executive amnesty a “major turning point” in the ongoing battle against the president’s actions.

“This is a major victory for the rule of law; the District Court’s ruling states that President Obama must now stop implementing these policies in ‘any and all aspects,’” Cruz said Tuesday.

Monday, a Texas federal judge temporarily halted President Obama’s executive amnesty, ruling in favor of the 26 states challenging the president’s actions.

Cruz further noted that President Obama’s initial attempt at amnesty — with his Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program — served as an impetus to encourage hundreds of thousand unaccompanied minors to attempt to illegally come to the United States.

“Last summer we saw a humanitarian crisis on our southern border that was a direct consequence of Obama’s previous amnesty. Republicans are now standing together to try to ensure that it never happens again,” he said.

The decision comes as Senate Democrats filibuster a Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill that would defund Obama’s executive amnesty.

Cruz called on Senate Democrats to stop blocking consideration of the bill, especially in the wake of the ruling.

“The Senate Democrats who are filibustering Department of Homeland Security funding should look hard at this ruling,” he said. “At a time when we face grave national security threats, at home and abroad, it is the height of irresponsibility for the Democrats to block this funding in an extreme attempt to save Obama’s amnesty, which a federal judge has just declared illegal.”

Please, this is not a decision on the case, just an injunction. Yes, very good news because it stops part of the madness for now. But, given the history of the US Supreme Court, we can not wait on nor can we rely upon this court to do the right thing when it comes to immigration. It didn't do so in the Plyler v Doe Case, it didn't do so in the Kim Von Ark Case, it didn't do so in the Arizona Immigration Law Case, and I doubt that it will do so now

It buys some time however to go out there and do the right things, like pass Marsha Blackburn's bill that acknowledges and authorizes states to enforce US immigration law, Steve King's bill that excludes children of illegal aliens from automatic birthright citizenship, E-Verify with no ID card please, pass the FairTax which makes it unaffordable for them to live here at low wages because they're excluded from the Rebate and with the FairTax we really won't need a Customs inspection anymore to collect customs or duties because they'll be taxed at the final point of sale, a 10 year Moratorium on all new immigration so we can shut down immigrant services for a nice cool calm decade while our nation and citizens recover from this madness. And oh yes, pass a bill that shuts down public benefits and payments of any kind to any illegal alien, including any payments or benefits passed to them by 501 C 3's.

So stop talking about DHS, and start advancing these bills through the US House of Representatives, one a day, dump them in the Senate and wait for them to come through. You start talking about actual solutions, and you'll be surprised how many Democrats will see their way to support our bills, because their phones will be ringing off their hooks from fellow Americans who happen to be Democrats who want the same things for our country that we do.
