Senator McCain sounds off on wildfire cause

Residents in parts of fire-ravaged Arizona are heading home, weeks after being evacuated. But for others, the trouble's just beginning as a fire near the border with Mexico burns over land in Cochise County.

The so-called monument fire was first spotted last Sunday. Already, it's charred twenty thousand acres and destroyed dozens of homes.

Officials say they're still investigating the cause. But Senator John Mccain from Arizona says he has his suspicions about how fires near the border got started.

"We are concerned about, particularly, areas down on the border where there is substantial evidence that some of these fires are caused by people who have crossed our border illegally. They have set fires because the want to signal others. They have set fires to keep warm and they have set fires in order to divert law enforcement agents and agencies from them."

Officials say months of dry weather and high winds are making it hard to get the fire under control. So far, they say it's only 15 percent contained.
