Sheriff’s deputies arrest two suspected illegal immigrants

Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two individuals Saturday suspected of being illegal immigrants.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop at 11:41 p.m. at Smoketree Avenue and State Route 95 where the driver, Maurillo Hipolito Castaneda, 27, and the passenger, Noe De Jesus Barrios, 25, who were identified as being from Mexico. The driver identified himself with a Mexico identification card, and the deputies subsequently communicated with Barrios.

With the assistance of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Castaneda and Barrios were determined to be illegal immigrants, according to a Mohave County Sheriff’s Department press release. They were taken into custody without incident, according to the report. They were transported to the Mohave County District III Substation where ICE later took them into custody. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
