Leaders reportedly trying to be low key

BROWNSVILLE - A new study out of the University of Texas - Brownsville has turned up some surprising new facts about the Mara Salvatruchas or MS-13 gang.

According to the study, MS-13 leaders are trying to become more low key. UTB Criminal Justice Professor Susan Ritter says MS-13 leaders are telling their members not to get tattoos or wear their colors.

The study suggests that MS-13 is asking its members to get educated.

"One of the ways the MS-13 members are moving into the main stream is by sending members to college," explains Ritter.
