Honestly, I don't think amnesty in itself is what is motivating these Republicans that have been coming out in support of an immigration overhaul. Personally, I think its the expansion of visas for foreign workers (cheap labor) that is the driving force because that is what the Chamber of Commerce and corporations/businesses want. It's pretty much understood that you can't have one without the other because the Democrats would never support an increase of visas without an amnesty for illegals (they've made that clear). Therefore, the Republicans know that they must support the business interest in this country if they want to continue receiving their financial support. Heck, the Chamber of Commerce recently threatened the GOP over this with their comment about not bothering to bring a candidate forth in 2016 if they didn't pass a comprehensive immigration bill. Yep, there are definitely bought and paid for Republicans sitting in our U.S. Congress. Those are the guys we need to throw out like yesterdays trash!

I understand Bamacrats selling out Americans, to lock up control of federal elective offices. I understand sell out Repubs selling out Americans, to please their big-money donors, but where is Russo coming from?

Maybe we can get some kind of campaign going, to educate him to the result of legalizing illegals and letting even higher numbers of desperate immigrants into our country.

Tea Party calls on House Republicans to act on immigration reform

Sal Russo, co-founder of Tea Party Express, said conservatives must 'seize on immigration reform as an opportunity for growth,' as pressure mounts on all fronts.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) says immigration reform must pass by August or it will not do so until 2017.

WASHINGTON — House Republicans Wednesday faced mounting pressure from across the political spectrum —even including the Tea Party — to act soon on immigration reform.

A day after President Obama said the House has a “narrow window” to take up a bill before the congressional elections close off the chance of legislating in the fall, a top Tea Partier on Wednesday called for conservatives to stop blocking action on immigration.

“Conservatives need to seize on immigration reform as an opportunity for growth, to reaffirm who we are and what makes our country great,” Tea Party Express co-founder Sal Russo said in an op-ed.

    J. SCOTT APPLEWHITE/AP
Boehner is being pressurized by House conservatives not to allow immigration votes.

n the Senate, which passed a comprehensive immigration bill last year, Democrats urged House Speaker John Boehner to allow a vote on similar legislation by August.

If “Republican leaders refuse to schedule a vote on immigration reform during this window, it will not pass until 2017 at the earliest,” Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), a lead author of the Senate bill, said. “It would then pass in 2017 after Republicans take a shellacking in the presidential election.”

Boehner faces pressure from House conservatives not to allow immigration votes. Republicans fear those votes would force them to pick between conservative voters opposed to a bill and business groups who want reform.
