Texas Deputies Cheat the Vultures Again: Rescue Illegal Immigrant from Falfurrias Death

HOUSTON, Texas—A Salvadorian man was rescued by volunteer reserve deputies and saved from death or serious trauma after wandering in the sweltering heat of the desert-like ranchlands around Falfurrias, Texas. The 25-year-old man from El Salvador spent three days in the ninety-five plus degree heat searching for his family he feared was lost and possible dead.
Left behind by his smugglers, the migrant searched for his family until he found out they were safe. Volunteer reserve deputies from the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office found him and treated him for dehydration and hunger. He was then processed and turned over to the Border Patrol.
The immigrant was found off Highway 281, the main north-south corridor through the county, near Farm to Market Road 755. He admitted to paying smugglers $4,000 to get him and his family to their destination. He would not reveal what that destination was or who had smuggled him into the country and left him behind to die.
This is not the first illegal immigrant saved by these dedicated volunteers who often times travel 80-100 miles just to come help the sheriff’s department. The department has had to cut back to four patrol deputies, cut employee salaries and health benefits because of the cost of burial services for the immigrants who have been dying about every three days for the past year.
Instead of being home with their families in neighboring Hidalgo County for the Independence Day holiday, these off-duty police officers are working volunteer shifts with no pay to make sure that the full-time deputies come home safely at the end of their twelve-hour shifts and to save as many lives of the immigrants as possible.
On July 3rd Breitbart Texas reported the deputies not only saved a man who had injured his ankle and been left for dead in the desert-like ranchlands, but they determined he was a convicted felon who had previously been deported. The lack of border security made it easy for this criminal illegal alien to return to this country.
These volunteers are putting themselves at risk to help their fellow police officers and residents of a community where they do not even live. They had a particularly good day on June 29th when Breitbart Texas reported they found and rescued five illegal immigrants in three separate incidents. These five immigrants were also severely dehydrated and had been left behind for dead by their smugglers.
Others are not so fortunate. On June 27th, Breitbart Texas reported buzzards led deputies to find the bodies, or what was left of them in some cases, of four illegal immigrants who died in their trek to find freedom and opportunity in America. The bodies of two men and two women were found in four separate locations around this county that has become a death trap for illegals at the hands of their smugglers. In addition to the tragic loss of life, the county will now have to spend $10,000 burying the four individuals, money that could have been used for additional manpower and health benefits for the county’s employees.
Volunteer deputies, alongside the men and women of the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office continue to work to try and capture the illegal immigrants who are still alive when they are found and, at the same time, respond to the normal calls for service from the taxpayers of their home county.
