Two men linked to Gulf Cartel arrested

Mexican police in Matamoros have arrested two men believed to have links to the Gulf Cartel.

Authorities said in a press release that they arrested the men April 13 after they were found selling drugs.

Gaston Torres Rubio, 27, also known as "El Torres," of San Luis PotosÃ*, and Jose Bernado Loredo Flores, 25, also known as "El Pepe," of the United States, were apprehended by Mexican authorities, according to the release.

The release also states the men also served as lookouts for the Gulf Cartel, informing cartel members when federal authorities were in the area.

The men were found in possession of three communication radios, 50 envelopes of cocaine and a map showing zone operations when they were apprehended, the release said.
