ROBSTOWN (Kiii News) - A routine traffic stop in Robstown turned into a high-speed chase at around 7 a.m. Thursday and resulted in an illegal immigrant bailout.

It all started when a Robstown police officer tried to pull over a vehicle for speeding in a construction zone on northbound Highway 77 and the driver did not stop. The suspects eventually crashed into a fence on a property off I-37, near Labonte Park, and they ran off into a muddy field.

Seven suspects in all fled the vehicle, and authorities later found two others trapped inside the trunk of the vehicle. The two men were turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol, and authorities are still looking for the other seven that got away.
