EDINBURG, TEXAS - U.S. Customs and Border Patrol said Friday it has arrested two MS-13 gang members and three sex offenders in separate incidents over the last week at Texas checkpoints.

In two separate incidents this week, agents at the Kingsville Station apprehended two Salvadoran nationals who admitted to belonging to Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13). CBP said another MS-13 gang member was arrested the week prior.

Kingsville agents also arrested an El Salvadoran national and a Mexican national who “had criminal histories that included arrests for lewd acts with a child under 14 years of age and sexual battery, respectively.” Agents in Corpus Christi apprehended a Mexican national who had been arrested and charged with child molestation.

“Border Patrol agents remain vigilant in their efforts to protect this nation from all threats, including predators and convicted criminals attempting to illegally enter the country,” said Chief Patrol Agent Manuel Padilla, Jr. in a release. “Thanks to the hard work of Border Patrol agents, these dangerous criminals were unable to make it into our communities.”
