UPDATE -tragedy: Illegal alien with expired Driver Privilege card DUI & killed woman

The corrupt enablers in Utah state -- the politicians (who vote Yea for Utah Driver Privilege card, in-state tuition, etc for illegals), advocates, county chamber of commerce and employers -- have blood on their hands. I see illegal alien people working as grass/leaf blowers, lawnmowers, landscapers, Mexican restaurant workers and construction workers locally.

Man arrested in DUI death held on $500,000 bail

PROVO -- Ramiro Hernandez-Serrano was driving with an expired Utah Driving Privilege card early Sunday morning when he veered of the road and hit 22-year-old Ashlee Zimmer.

Zimmer was sitting on the curb next to a parked car at 844 N. 100 West around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when Hernandez, who was driving north on 100 West, swerved across traffic, hit the parked car and then Zimmer. Zimmer later died from her injuries.

Hernandez had already been cited for intoxication and disorderly conduct Saturday night before he got behind the wheel of a friend's Jeep Grand Cherokee. Lt. Craig Martinez with the Orem Department of Public Safety says Hernandez was cited for the misdemeanors by the Lindon police but wasn't arrested or taken into custody because he wasn't driving at the time. Hernandez was booked into the Utah County Jail on charges of automobile homicide, a second-degree felony, leaving the scene of the accident and driving with an expired license, both misdemeanors.

During a court hearing Monday morning Hernandez appeared before 4th District Judge Steven Hansen. Speaking through an interpreter, Hernandez said he has lived in the area for about four years, and he works in construction to support himself.

Previously deported illegal alien charged with fatal DUI in Utah

Last month, Ramiro Serrano Hernandez, 26, was arrested for killing a young woman in Provo, only hours after being cited for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

On Aug. 25, around 1:30 a.m., Hernandez lost control of a borrowed Jeep Grand Cherokee, crashed into a parked car, then ran over 22-year-old Ashlee Zimmer who was sitting on the curb across the street from her home.

After Zimmer was hit, her body became attached to the SUV. Hernandez did not stop and then smashed through a fence, and finally hit a building, according to police.
Hernandez jumped from the vehicle, and fled the scene.

He was found hiding behind a dumpster an hour later.

Hernandez had a blood alcohol level of .192, more than twice the legal limit.
    The Salt Lake Tribune reported:

Once in custody, Hernandez admitted to drinking five to six beers earlier at a wedding, then another five to six beers at home before driving the SUV, according to the charges.
Zimmer died shortly after the crash at a local hospital. She left behind a husband and her parents. She had only been married for four months at the time of her death.

Hernandez was deported in November 2008, following a DUI conviction.

So why was Hernandez even on the street that night?

    The Daily Herald reported:

Lt. Craig Martinez with the Orem Department of Public Safety said Hernandez was cited for the misdemeanors by the Lindon police, but wasn't arrested or taken into custody because he wasn't driving at the time.
Why was he even in the country?

That's easy...Because President Obama refuses to secure the border, thus making deportations meaningless.

Hernandez has been charged with DUI, automobile homicide and leaving the scene of an accident. He is currently being held at the Utah County Jail on an immigration detainer.

Man arrested in DUI death held on $500,000 bail

    August 27, 2013 12:30 am • Paige Fieldsted - Daily Herald

PROVO -- Ramiro Serrano-Hernandez was driving with an expired Utah driving privilege card early Sunday morning when he veered off the road and hit 22-year-old Ashlee Zimmer, according to police reports.

Zimmer was sitting on the curb next to a parked car at 844 N. 100 West at about 1:30 a.m.

Lt. Craig Martinez with the Orem Department of Public Safety said Hernandez was cited for the misdemeanors by the Lindon police, but wasn't arrested or taken into custody because he wasn't driving at the time. Hernandez was booked into the Utah County Jail on charges of automobile homicide, a second-degree felony; leaving the scene of the accident and driving with an expired license -- both misdemeanors.

During a court hearing Monday morning, Hernandez appeared before 4th District Judge Steven Hansen. Speaking through an interpreter, Hernandez said he has lived in the area for about four years and he works in construction to support himself.

Prosecutor Craig Johnson said Hernandez's case sticks out on the bail hearing calendar simply because of the death of Zimmer. He said Hernandez had already been deported once, in 2008. Johnson asked for $500,000 cash only bail, which Hansen granted.

Martinez said Hernandez fled the scene of the accident but was found a few blocks away hiding behind a garbage receptacle. According to police reports, a blood alcohol test administered more than two hours after the accident showed Hernandez had a blood alcohol level of .169, more than twice the legal limit. Police reports say another Breathalyzer test showed a .192 blood alcohol level, but that Hernandez was having difficulty providing a sufficient breath sample. A blood draw was also done on Hernandez but the results of that test are still being processed.

According to court documents, Hernandez told police he was going to a friend's house near 1200 N. 100 West and that when he turned onto 100 West, an oncoming car had its bright lights on, which Hernandez told officers caused him to lose control of his vehicle. Police reports indicate that Hernandez was arrested for DUI in August 2008 and Hernandez told officers that he was deported after that arrest. Police reports state that the arresting officers couldn't find a Utah criminal history with the ID Hernandez provided but could confirm he was deported in November 2008. Hernandez confirmed that he was arrested for DUI and then deported in 2008.

Hernandez has yet to be charged for the Sunday morning accident.

Every corrupt Utah politician that voted to give illegal alien a form of driver licenses is responsible for this death and all others like this.

Utah driver accused of killing woman on sidewalk pleads guilty

Courts » Ramiro Serrano Hernandez pleaded guilty to second-degree felony automobile homicide.

A Pleasant Grove man accused of driving his car over a sidewalk and hitting and killing a woman in August has pleaded guilty to reduced charges.

Ramiro Serrano Hernandez, 27, was originally charged in Provo’s 4th District Court with second-degree felony automobile homicide involving alcohol or drugs, third-degree felony failure to remain at an accident involving death, along with misdemeanor charges of causing an accident involving property damage and never obtaining a driver license.

Last Friday, Hernandez accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to the automobile homicide charge, while the remaining charges were dismissed. He faces a prison term of one to 15 years when he is sentenced on Feb. 27.

In the early hours of Aug. 25, Hernandez drove an SUV onto the sidewalk near 844 N. 100 West and hit 22-year-old Ashlee Zimmer, who was sitting on the sidewalk smoking a cigarette, according to police.

Hernandez lost control of the SUV, hitting Zimmer’s car and then Zimmer, police said. Her body was dragged beneath the SUV as it careened through a fence and hit a building.

Zimmer’s husband of four months heard the crash, found his wife pinned under the car and called police.

When paramedics arrived, Hernandez had fled on foot, according to police. Zimmer was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Hernandez is being held in the Utah County Jail on $500,000 cash-only bail. Deputy Utah County Attorney Craig Johnson said the high bail was due to Hernandez’s classification as an "aggravated re-entry illegal immigrant," since the man was deported in 2008, and is likely in the country illegally.

In the hours before the fatal crash, Lindon police cited Hernandez for intoxication and disorderly conduct while he was at a party, according to Orem police Lt. Craig Martinez. A friend gave Hernandez a ride home, Martinez said, but Hernandez later decided to drive.
