Yuma, Arizona - U.S. Border Patrol agents from Yuma Sector arrested 25 drug smugglers during the weekend, and seized a combined 803 pounds of marijuana valued at over $400,000.

Friday evening, an Air Interdiction agent from Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Air and Marine discovered a group of 13 drug smugglers east of Papago Well on the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge. The Air Interdiction agent, patrolling in a helicopter, radioed for assistance from Border Patrol agents, who helped to apprehend the group. The smugglers, all male Mexican nationals, were carrying a total of 463 pounds of marijuana.

Sunday night, another group of 12 smugglers were arrested by agents approximately three miles southeast of Papago Well. This group, also consisting of Mexican nationals, was carrying 340 pounds of marijuana.
