Voters Show Stronger Support for ‘Kate’s Law’ Sentencing For Illegal Immigrant Felons

Voters appear to be strongly on board with two policies president-elect Donald Trump is calling for when he enters the White House: deporting illegal immigrants convicted of major felonies and mandatory prison sentences for those who try to return.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 81% of Likely U.S. Voters favor a plan that calls for mandatory deportation of illegal immigrants who have been convicted of a felony in this country. Just 13% are opposed. These findings are nearly identical to those measured in August of last year. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 1,000 Likely U.S. Voters was conducted on November 15-16, 2016 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
