‘Birther’ website: New violence charges against Zimmerman are liberal media plot

A writer for the website World Net Daily — a hub for “Birther” conspiracists and other anti-Obama true believers — has penned a column in defense of George Zimmerman, the gunman who fatally shot unarmed teen Trayvon Martin in 2012.

Right Wing Watch reported
on a post by WND’s Jack Cashill that alleged that the latest domestic violence and battery charges against Zimmerman are part of a vast, overarching liberal media conspiracy against the former neighborhood watch volunteer.

Cashill is the author of If I Had a Son: Race, Guns and the Railroading of George Zimmerman, a pro-Zimmerman tract printed by WND’s in-house publisher that paints the Florida gunman as an unfairly maligned American hero.

Cashill accuses the media of a witch hunt that began, apparently, even before his subject shot Trayvon Martin.

Brian Tashman at Right Wing Watch wrote, “In another WND story defending Zimmerman in the face of new accusations of abuse, Cashill claimed Zimmerman’s estranged wife and ‘his latest “victim,” girlfriend Samantha Scheibe,’ concocted their claims to garner media attention and ‘betrayed’ Zimmerman by going to the police after he threatened them.”

“In the last two years, Zimmerman has experienced more betrayal on more levels than most of us will in a lifetime,” wrote Cashill.

“Regardless of the circumstances, each misstep Zimmerman has made post-trial has left the media giddy. They seem to think it vindicates their utterly subversive rush to judgment.”

“The fact is that the Zimmerman they now happily trash is the Zimmerman they helped create,” he continued. “Whatever happens going forward, the blood is on their hands.”

In other words, Zimmerman absolutely did not do what Scheibe and her mother accuse him of doing this year and in 2005, the first time he allegedly struck Scheibe in an argument. And if he did, Cashill says, it was clearly the media’s fault.
