Yesterday there was one and today there are scores of Facebook pages dubbed “Everytown for Gun Safety” for several states and even local communities; the work of gun rights activists waging guerrilla warfare against billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s $50 million launch yesterday of a new gun control lobbying effort with the same name.
All of the Facebook pages have one thing in common. They all promote gun safety, including links to such things as the National Rifle Association’s “Eddie Eagle” program and the three key gun safety golden rules: Always keep guns pointed in a safe direction, always keep guns unloaded until ready to use, and always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
The launch of so many Facebook pages in the wake of Bloomberg’s appearance yesterday on NBC’s Todayshow with Shannon Watts of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America (MDA), a group he funded underscores the ferocity of Second Amendment activists. Bloomberg’s new “Everytown for Gun Safety” organization consolidates MDA with Mayors Against Illegal Guns, another anti-gun organization funded by the former New York mayor.
But in the process of setting it all up, disguised as a “grass roots” effort, somebody in Bloomberg’s camp evidently forgot Facebook. That left the door open yesterday for activists to quickly register the name “Everytown for Gun Safety” (EGS) on Facebook, and launch a bushel of them over the past several hours as pro-gun sites that are now drawing viral attention and no small amount of laughter from the gun rights community.
At last count, there were individual Facebook pages for EGS chapters in Illinois, Idaho, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota and South Carolina, and those are just examples. A quick glance also shows separate pages for EGS chapters in Washington, Texas, California, Florida and most other states as well. The Washington page has a red silhouette of the state with the message "No on 594," a reference to Initiative 594, the 18-page gun control measure.
Many of those states are among the ones Bloomberg’s $50 million so-called “grass roots” effort is targeting this year, according to yesterday’s New York Times. That story identified Washington, Colorado, Texas, Montana and Indiana among 15 states where he will put the “Everytown” financial emphasis.
While NBC’s story about Bloomberg’s new campaign insisted he “isn’t trying to outspend the NRA,” the New York Times piece specifically noted that the NRA “has spent only $20 million annually on political activities.” The former mayor insisted in his NBC interview that “This is not a battle of dollars, it’s a battle for the hearts and minds of America, so that we can protect our children, protect innocent people.”
Second Amendment activists look at it from a different perspective. This is a battle to protect the constitutional rights of the next generation from people like Bloomberg who think their deep pockets somehow entitle them to buy elections and force their philosophy on the entire nation.

Facebook Pulls Everytown for Gun Safety Page after Pro-Gunners Grabbed It before Bloomberg

Earlier this week, I reported on how ex-NYC Mayor and Billionaire Michael Bloomberg is starting up a new $50 million anti-gun group with all new propaganda and the intent to get a million voters to the polls in pro-2nd Amendment states like Texas. (I wonder how much votes are going for these days, anyway?)
The magical endeavor is to be called, “Everytown for Gun Safety”. Cute, huh?

Well, before Bloomberg and his new club could nab the official Facebook page thus named, a pro-gun group grabbed it first:

This was the new page’s profile picture:

I’m writing “was” because it has already been taken down.
That’s right. Facebook pulled the page right quick, as The Truth About Guns reported:
Well that didn’t take long. Facebook has pulled the plug on the page Everytown for Gun Safety. You may recall that pro-gun forces assumed control of the page last week, after Mayor Bloomberg launched his Everytown for Gun Safety anti-NRA lobby group. The Mayor’s majordomo laughed off the missing link, challenging the page’s [temporary] owners to a duel. While we expected the billionaire anti-ballistics bully boys to prevail, what with trademark lawyers parachuting in to rectify the oversight, we didn’t expect the Everytown page to last long. It didn’t. However . . . there are now dozens of local Everytown for Gun Safety pages run by gun rights advocates. All of which are still on-line. For now.
Bloomberg’s pals did actually challenge the pro-gunners, which they called “cybersquatters”, to a duel:
“Maybe they’d like to duel for it,” said Mark Glaze, the executive director of Everytown for Gun Safety. “I hear every person on our staff of 85 is a better shot than Wayne LaPierre. Or maybe a bidding war!”

On a serious note, Glaze said they are in the process of acquiring trademark protection.
“Once that happens, we expect Facebook to shoo these cybersquattters politely off this name/page,” he said.
So it isn’t over a trademark either, as one commenter pointed out:

Nope, no announcement has been made on exactly what rule the group broke by putting up the page (unless “pissing off the establishment and its agenda” is an official FB no-no)…but if Facebook is anything like our public schools in this country, displaying pictures of guns and American flags are a surefire way to get instantly censored.
Yep, it is as if those in power everywhere want to take away not only our 2nd Amendment, but apparently our 1st Amendment if we choose to use it to even discuss our 2nd Amendment.

The following offensive text was considered by someone at Facebook to be inappropriate. It was posted by Todd Starnes of Fox News:
“Rancher Bundy should’ve told the feds that those were Mexican cows – who came across the border illegally to seek better grazing opportunities. It was an act of love.”
Any late-night comedian would have delivered this line and got lots of laughs. It satirized all the liberal clichés about immigration and liberal double standards.

Apparently it was too much for the folks at Facebook. Starnes was told, “We removed the post below because it doesn’t follow the Facebook Community Standards.” Of course, he was never told what “standard” he had violated. This is classic liberalism.

Starnes went on to write, identifying the real sin against Facebook: getting out the message to a broader audience.

“Thousands of you posted comments and many more shared that message. It’s now gone — blotted out by anonymous redactors.

“I reached out to Facebook to find out which part of the message violated their standards. Never heard back. I suspect I should’ve used the term ‘illegal alien cows.’”
The king can’t be reproached in any way.

None of this should surprise us since that the BLM/Bundy standoff, the government put up "Free Speech Zones." These were the only places where the First Amendment applied.

Liberals can’t stand contrary thought. They are all about it when they are not in control of the process and means of expression. They use the First Amendment as a wedge to get in the door, and then once in the building they close it to shut out all competitive speech. It’s a common tactic. The Berkley “Free Speech Movement” is a classic example.
“In protests unprecedented in scope, students insisted that the university administration lift the ban of on-campus political activities and acknowledge the students’ right to free speech and academic freedom.”
It was a scam. They were using the free speech argument so they could sometime later block competitive speech, and they have been wildly successful.
Many colleges and universities have speech codes. Writing in Forbes, Greg Lukianoff, identifies the appalling course our nation’s schools have taken when it comes to free speech:
“We found that an appalling 62 percent of institutions surveyed maintain policies that restrict a substantial amount of speech protected under the First Amendment — what we call ‘red light’ speech codes. Such schools include Harvard, Columbia, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
    *****
“Speech codes come in many forms. The University of North Dakota bans student speech that ‘feels offensive’ or ‘demeaning.’ The University of Missouri at St. Louis boasts a policy restricting speech that will ‘discredit the student body.’ Texas’ Sam Houston State University broadly prohibits ‘abusive, indecent, profane or vulgar language.’”
So what has been a mainstay of liberal bullying on college campuses is now affecting major social media companies. Much of this has to do with the fact that there has been almost a god-like allegiance to Barack Obama. His candidacy was viewed as messianic. The liberal utopia was about to dawn, and they had found their leader.
As a result liberals have done everything to protect him and his policies, and free speech, logic, and facts be damned.

Not just liberalism it is anti American policy. It is about controlling free speech
