If 9 people shot in one church in Charleston is news for weeks, then these 11 shootings in Baltimore should be on every station in America for at least a day or two right?

Police investigate a fatal Far South Side shooting late Tuesday. | Network Video Productions

A 22-year-old man was killed and at least six other people were injured in shootings across Chicago on Tuesday.

The fatal shooting happened about 10:45 p.m. in the Morgan Park neighborhood on the Far South Side.

Avery Williams was driving in the 11100 block of South Hamlet when a black SUV pulled alongside and a gunman inside shot him in the abdomen, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Williams, who lived in the 10400 block of South Church, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he later died, authorities said.

The latest shooting happened about 11:20 p.m. in the Belmont Central neighborhood on the Northwest Side. A 24-year-old man shot in the foot was taken to Community First Medical Center in good condition, but police said he gave conflicting accounts of how the attack happened.

Three separate shootings within minutes of each other left four people wounded late Tuesday.

About 10:25 p.m., a man was shot in the right knee in University Village on the Near West Side. The attack happened in the 1300 block of West 13th Street, police said. The 33-year-old victim showed up at the University of Illinois Medical Center, but further details including his condition and the circumstances surrounding the shooting weren’t immediately available.

At 10:18 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in the left ankle in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side. He was on a sidewalk in the 6400 block of South Artesian when a gunman walked up and opened fire. The 24-year-old’s condition was stabilized at Holy Cross Hospital, police said.

About the same time, a 17-year-old boy and 20-year-old man were shot in Little Village. At 10:15 p.m., they were standing on a sidewalk in the 3300 block of West 25th Street when a gunman at the end of the block opened fire, striking the teen in the right thigh and the man in the left leg. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where their conditions stabilized, police said.

The day’s first shooting happened about 1 p.m. in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

A 48-year-old woman in a vehicle in the 1600 block of South Pulaski when gunfire erupted and she was shot in the right side of the neck. She was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, and police said she wasn’t the intended target.

Three people in Baltimore, including a teenage boy, have been indicted for murder, rape, arson and gang charges in the brutal death of a high school girl, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Adonay Dixon, 23, and John Childs, 20, were the first two suspects charged for the murder of 16-year-old Arnesha Bowers, the Baltimore Sun reported. They were accused of breaking into Bowers' home, sexually assaulting her, killing her, and stealing $40 in cash, an iPad and a laptop.

Days later, 14-year-old Raeshawn Rivers, who knew Bowers, was arrested and charged as an adult.

After the arrests in early June, Dixon and Childs were slapped with new charges for gang activity.
Prosecutors have yet to specify where those charges come from, but detectives have said they believed the two were members of the Bloods and the brutal murder might have been an initiation ritual.

Dixon's mom, Sandra Dixon, has previously refuted any gang connection to her son, despite hesitating to claim he is innocent, WBAL reported.
